More Of This, Please

The Iraqis are turning on the "insurgents":

The insurgents raided the village of al-Mudhiryah south of Baghdad after warning its inhabitants not to vote in the election.

The villagers fought back, killing five of the insurgents and wounding eight others.

The insurgents' cars were then set alight.

Al-Mudhiryah's tribal sheikh says his people are sick of being threatened by Islamic extremists.

Maybe they'll start to get the message now. I doubt if Michael Moore will, though. Just what the heck kind of quagmire is this, anyway?

I'd love to know if these five are included in the death toll as the media report an "upsurge" of violence.

Good for them!

May this inspire other Iraqia to beat the snot out of the terrorists - and kill them too.

terrorists?

It's a horrible quagmire ... for the terrorists.

It's fun to shoot terrorists and burn their cars

Well, off to consuling....

Rand:

How can you cheer on the savage killing of people merely attempting to express their opinions?

Worse, how can you not condemn the actions of the equivalent of the Tories (since the extremists are supposed to be the Minutemen)?

And I'm sure they didn't give them due process, politely read them Miranda rights, and apply habeas corpus to them. No, they just went and killed them.

Clearly, our side is backing people who are not fit for democracy. Better to have a good, stable ruler. I hear Saddam might be interested in the job?

I think the city fathers of Northfield, Minnesota ought to grant al-Mudhiryah sister city status.

Well I guess if you are only willing to look at one side of the situation and ignore the crimes that led up to the war in Iraq as well as the crimes being perpetrated now then by all means rejoice. I wonder if the Iraqi "democracy" will be anything like the situation we created in Afghanistan, where a former employee of Unocal, a large oil company, was elected as the leader. Isn't that just a little too convenient for Bush and his friends"?
