About To Watch A Travesty Of Tradition

Michigan against Texas in the Rose Bowl. Of course, it was Cal who really got jobbed by the BCS this year.

You are absolutely right! Cal was cheated pure and simple. The BCS is a fraud put on by Eastern colleges, for Eastern colleges.

Posted by Rod Stanton at January 1, 2005 04:57 PM

If they were so good, how come they got beat by a 7-4 team that Texas blew out? Not a Texas fan but if they had beaten Texas Tech, I could see your point. Go Hawkeyes!!

Blah, blah, blah.... Texas barely beat a Michigan team that
lost to Notre Dame, which in turn lost to Oregon St. (and
a lot of others). You can play these games forever, but there
are two undeniable points: 1) There is a huge Eastern Bias in
the two college sports that matter (bball and football) 2) the
BCS is rigged

Note the article on the front page of the LATimes sports section on the AP pulling out of the BCS.

"Kevin Wieberg, Big 12 Conference commissioner who serves as BCS co-ordinator....."

Gee, and Texas leapfrogged Cal? what a surprise.

Every Pac-10 coach should change their votes ranking the
Big-12 dead last in next year's last poll

Bottomline...they didn't win the game. BTW Texas IS west of the Mississippi...like USC, OU, Cal and Utah. 5 out of top 6 from west of Mississippi.

My (and college football's) dividing line is the Rocky Mtns.
Thanks for the geography lesson, Bill, most Big 12
grads probably dont know Texas is west of the Mississippi.
Fortunately for them, you and I are posting this so now
they know how to spell the name of the river (and maybe,
roughly, where it is).

I hate Texas, but I'm lost at why anybody supporting Cal would be so arrogant. SCOREBOARD

Holiday
Texas Tech (21) - 45
Cal (4) - 31 (loser)

Rose Bowl
Michigan (12) - 37
Texas (5) - 38 (winner)

Tell me, which was more impressive? Cal losing to USC -- a team better than many NFL teams -- or Texas squeeking out against that football powerhouse, Kansas?

Posted by Andrew at January 2, 2005 11:08 AM

The team that got screwed by the BCS, based on the performances of the last few days, was Utah. They finished the season 12-0, capping with a 35-7 win over Pitt in the Fiesta Bowl. I would have liked to have sees Utah take on Auburn in the Sugar Bowl.

Cal's abysmal performance against Tech shows that they're at best a mediocre team, and when OU trounces the crap out of USC in the Orange Bowl this whole discussion will be put in context.

Pac 10 football is, face it, a joke.

greg, why don't you just kiss my big fat hairy Texas Longhorn rear-end! If you want a geography contest, I'm ready any time.

Hook 'em Horns!

Apologies to Rand, if you don't want such comments on your site... I'm relatively new here and don't want to get banned! I've read your stuff for years, and was glad to find your blog a few months ago.

Andrew, ask ANY college coach in the land and the last team he would want to play is an NFL team. The difference between boys and men.
