Oil Prices

...had their single biggest one-day drop in three years today. And the Dow was up a hundred and fifty points.

I blame George W. Bush.

I blame Halliburton

Posted by Leland at December 1, 2004 03:01 PM

When is Haliburton going to mine Io and strong arm Sean Connery?

Posted by Mike Puckett at December 1, 2004 03:19 PM

Rand, go get this guy for us, okay?

http://www.michnews.com/artman/publish/article_5931.shtml

He is one of yours. . .

"It is the unmanned probes that have been the most successful ventures of NASA and therein lay several simple truths. (1) Humans are neither designed, nor intended to function in outer space and (2) technology permits us to do all the exploration we need to at this point in time. (3) Space probes are far less costly than Space Shuttles that have to be rebuilt from scratch every time they fly. (4) They are far less expensive. (5) No one gets killed.

Replace space with water or ocean and shuttle with submarine and the absudity of this argument becomes clear.

BTW, don't assign this idiot to Rand or the rest of us or we are giving you Proxmire and Mondale.

Okay, Mike. Deal. Leave Al Sharpton off "my list" while you are at it.

But that guy is waaaay over the top.

Posted by Bill White at December 1, 2004 08:06 PM

And the dollar is almost $2=£1! Yay!

Looks like I'll be buying all my stuff in the US this Christmas, of course, it will all be imported but who cares.

Submarines are not rebuilt every time they sail... but I get your point. Another point being that probes rarely inspire the masses more than the ability to go their in person. More people still attend a Shuttle launch than even care to watch a lift off of another probe.

Hey Dave... Thanks for helping to close the trade deficit gap!

Whoa!

So, this guy Alan Caruba, ran for the Presidency in the GOP primaries? After running for NY City mayor and senator (iirc)?

Who knew?!? Funny, though, I don't recall him speaking for an extended period during the GOP Convention, the way Reverend Al did. When was he scheduled to speak?

Sorry, but Al Sharpton is still one of "yours," Bill, until your own party decides to disown him.

Oil Prices Decline! Women, Minorities Most Effected!

Posted by JSAllison at December 2, 2004 11:32 AM

Ha! Very good! This could be fun. . .

---------------

"The soaring price of stocks brings fresh [spiraling? -ed.] doubts about the Bush Administration's vision of a new "ownership society." The price of entry-level stocks has now risen far beyond the means of America's poor single mothers living paycheck to paycheck.

"Yet investment in stocks has been shown to pay the best return on one's money. Millions of Americans now take for granted that investment in stocks via their 401(k) is the major guaranty of a comfortable retirement.

"Should Americans continue to allow this widening inquality of opportunity when it comes to earning the best return on your money? On saving for a decent old age? Should only the rich be able to afford high-priced goods and services? And is it perhaps time for government to extend a helping hand to law-abiding taxpayers just trying to get rich without earning the money themselves?

"Our nuanced 12-part series examines this topic beginning on page A12. . ."

Hey Dave... Thanks for helping to close the trade deficit gap!

Hey, no problemo.... of course, apart from the Washington State sales tax, I'll almost certainly be buying imported goods before the prices have to go up ;)
