Put Them Away For Life

Two men were arrested for dumping dirt in a forest.

Thankfully, they were stopped before they could pour water into the ocean.

Planet-hating fiends.

Makes you wonder if they got caught while spending the time to rake it out? Idiots should have just dropped the load and ran.

Not that I'm advocating illegal activities or suggesting ways to get away with illegally putting dirt on top of dirt.

I looked at this story in several places, there is no mention of anything contaminating the soil they dumped. I understand the need for rules, but how about the Forestry guys looking for people growing pot in the Nat'L Forset up there. Or poaching, or living for free on public land. No they arrest guys for putting dirt under a tree!! Our tax dollars at work.

I wonder if Officer Obie made them pick it all back up and pay a $25 fine?

What if they had dumped it in your front yard, Rand, Leland, Steve, and Michael? Would they have done anything wrong?

Posted by Jardinero1 at December 1, 2004 03:21 PM

A few years ago, the Massachusetts EPA banned dumping snow in Boston Harbor.

To Jardinero 1:

In a way that IS my front yard. And everyone elses that lives and pays taxes in the U.S.

My point was more along the lines of, why do we have people arrested for placing dirt in a forest when we have areas of that same forest the average person is no longer safe to enter. Due to pot growing, squatting, militia style nut cases, etc. How about if the parks people look for REALLY bad people, not just dumb ones.

I don't discount the need for rules, I said that before. BUT we need some perspective on who we prosecute. Ideally the jerks should have been made to remove the dirt, with teaspoons, and pay the $25 fine.

If you had pot growers and meth labs to deal with, you too would dress and arm yourself like a miltia-style nutcase to ensure your safety. The phuckers ain't keeping me out of the national forest because they want to use it as a drug lab. I grew up in those woods and I was there first.

Jardinero1,

If they were willing to stay there and rake it out smooth, I'd help point them to where I could use the extra dirt in the backyard.

Now admittedly, there is not much information to go on in the story. These guys could have been laying the fertilizer and returning later to plant the cannabis.

For now, the story seems to suggest these guys needed to be fined for illegal dumping of dry waste and sent on their way. Do you really think that dumping dirt requires someone to be handcuffed and booked? I do if it is a regular occurance where fines were not effective, but nothing in the article suggests that.

Mike,
I was not talking about those of us who LEGALLY enter the forest dressed LIKE militia style nutcases. I was talking about the ILLEGAL militia style nutcases. Unabomber wannabes, tax evader/I don't believe in the federal jurisdiction of land types.

As to keeping you out of the forest, that would be your choice. I would not tell any adult where or when to go anywhere. All I know is that here in NC and in Idaho where I have friends, there are places, on federal land, it is not safe to enter because of these twits.

Personnaly, I avoid areas that I KNOW are unsafe, shark infested waters while I am bleeding, some federal lands, basketball games in Michigan etc.

I grew up prowling the Lincoln National Forest as a child and the only time I ever felt unsafe and stayed out of the forest was during deer hunting season. Almost every year at least one hunter got shot and killed. I have never heard of anyone getting murdered in a marijuana patch by a militia man. Maybe we need to do something about those deer hunters before we go after the militia men and the pot growers and the dirt dumpers.
