Just The Shouting Left

He got a majority of the popular vote for the first time since his father did it. He got, in fact, more votes than any presidential candidate in history. No one can rationally claim that he was "selected, not elected" this time. If John F. Kennedy was a legitimate president with a mandate for his policies, with only a plurality of the vote and a fraction of a percentage more than Nixon, so now is George Bush much more so, as a sitting president.

The deep divisions won't end, of course, nor will the cries of "Halliburton," "Chimp," "Hitler," "Ooooiiiillll" from the fever swamps, but let's hope that the Dems will finally have figured out that they must confine that infection to the loony fringes of their party, instead of giving it honored box seats at their convention, if they ever hope to regain power. Let us hope also that we have finally fought the last battle of the Vietnam War, and that America finally won.

Rand says...."Dems will finally have figured out that they must confine that infection to the loony fringes of their part..."

The dems I've talked to ALL seem fringe now. People who used to seem reasonable and educated seemed brain dead and fanatic to me over JFK2. It was weird, like they really were part of some hive mind. I actually had a GOOD friend tell me no matter who wins it will have been "orchestrated" by Bush, Cheney and Big Oil. I asked him to explain it and he couldn't. He just "knew" it.

I am glad its over, and it will be soon, now maybe they, dems, will put down the kool aid and get back to their lives of quiet desperation and hand wringing.

I ahve to agree with Steve on this one. I didn't see anything in the actions of people I know that would have indicated any sort of graceful end to the election. The vibe I was getting strongly suggested that the Left would have been sore losers OR sore winners. Either decrying "The Injustice of it all", or lauding "The Dethroning of the Evil Chimp of State". Any many more of these usually rational people are vowing to move out of the country, as well.

I'm sorry, folks, but fleeing to Canada won't gain you anything but horrendously run state health care. And it certainly won't change the outcome of the election in "your" favor in 4 years, either. If you want to be an American, and participate in the process, you have to be willing to accept the outcome, regardless of the results; running away won't effect any sort of change.
