Today's The Day

Clark has a schedule of events for the flight, and a roundup of links, many of which indicate that the space tourism business is rapidly picking up steam.

Well, let's see how well the webcast holds out...

Also this Sunday the Discovery channel is going to have a show about SS1 with some good footage of teh first suborbital shot and interviews with Rutan and others called:

Black Sky: The Race for Space

Webcast held out just fine. It was nice to see that it was a majorly hosted webcast, instead of just spotty coverage as was the case with the first shot. Of course, this is an X-Prize attempt, so it's not surprising that the coverage was much better.

That rise into space was very frightening to me. There was a LOT of roll going on, and I'm glad he made it safely. The debrief will be interesting, I'm sure.

That was one heart-pounding ride on the way up. I wonder what my dogs thought of me yelling "Go! Go! Go!"

Rolls or no, he's made it so far. To the edge of space and beyond, fantastic!

One for the history books... and a head scratcher. The early results indicate that 100 km was surpassed, but the earlier roll control problems returned with a vengance.

TOUCHDOWN!!!!!

Posted by Mumblix Grumph at September 29, 2004 08:46 AM

YEAH!!!!!!!!!!

A bit of a nail-biter, but that was great! Kudo's to Rutan et al!

(I'll wait to buy my ticket until the kinks get worked out though.....)

I couldn't get the cockpit streaming video going form here in NZ, but the BBC coverage (from the ground) worked fine.

Congratulations to everyone at Scaled, and I'm off to bed at 0340 :-)

p.s. what's the bet they have some sort of minor swirling thing going on in the N2O flow?
