Let's get this straight; you, a pro-rocket guy, are criticising a politician for using 'more fuel' when a rocket to put someone into orbit would take an entire car-year worth of fuel?

I love burning fuel, Ian. I'm criticizing Mr. "Earth in the Balance," and Mr. "we must eliminate the internal combustion engine in twenty-five years" of hypocrisy.

Ian, you Have to read Gore's book "Earth in the Balance" to understand he hoisted himself by his own pitard.
Way to work that evil internal combustion engine Al!

There's nothing hypocritical about it. You just haven't been listening closely. It's YOU the unwashed ignorant masses that need to be scrimpin' and conservin', trimming your lawn by raising goats, recycling your toilet paper and reading by rush lights. Not Al Gore.
Those of us educated right-thinking elite who Understand Things and who are best positioned to guide the destiny of humanity naturally need and deserve greater access to natural resources. Gosh, if an ecological activist couldn't drive 80 mph he might not get to his press conference in time, and then an important denunciation of fuel-wasting SUVs wouldn't be made. For that matter, if that same activist were forced to make the trip in an econobox instead of a luxury SUV, he might arrive frazzled and unrested, and his denunciation might lack fire and eloquence.
C'mon, folks, remember the priorities. It's more important to teach than to do. Then pen is mightier than the sword. It's better to thoroughly deconstruct the cursed corporate origins of the darkness than dick around lighting completely inadequate bits of candle. We're all equal, but some are more equal than others. You know all that, don't you? Or haven't you been taught properly in school?

That article had an interesting comment that Gore has until December to decide if he will fight it. 20 mph over, I wonder if he will?
