Scarborough Country

Joe Scarborough just had a debate between John O'Neill and John Hurley. It's the first time I've seen a fair debate between the two sides, with no interruptions for ad hominems allowed.

I think that O'Neill has prepared the battlefield very carefully. I also think that Senator Kerry is in big trouble--his self-aggrandizement and lies for the past three-plus decades are finally catching up with him. One almost wonders if the Clintons are orchestrating this to keep the path clear for Hillary in four years.

[Update on Tuesday afternoon (6:20 Eastern)]

Brit Hume is interviewing O'Neill one on one.

Instead of Kerry-Edwards, the ticket should be Kerry-McGreevey. Kerry seems to have more in common with the story telling N.J. Governor than the trial lawyer.

Concur yr analysis, Rand.

For 7,000 years we had lies, institutional lies and the great unwashed, illiterate masses.

Then that One came in 1844, was martyred in 1850, and His follower, the Glory of God, stated circa 1863 that, "From two ranks amongst mankind hath power been seized... kings and ecclesiatics." And later, "I have given power to the people."

Kerry wants to pretend that we're still living in those 7,000 years of recorded yesterday. Kerry seems remarkably ill-equipped to deal with the fact-checking reality extant today.

The 'independent investigation of truth' is not some pious empty gesture, waved before humankind like a refurbished shibboleth. It is the Google-fast theme for today, and Kerry's ship is being gutted on the rising shoals of aware private researchers around the world, investigating the truth for themselves and pooling their data via the Internet.

Goodbye, Mr Kerry.

Strike the "almost" and you've got it, Rand. Posted by Barbara Skolaut at August 17, 2004 03:20 PM

To Eye Opener:

Is that you, Wretchard?

Posted by dangermouse at August 17, 2004 04:34 PM

Does Wretchard recognize the One Who came May 23, 1844? Does Wretchard understand any of the many ways that His coming alters the dynamics of international politics we see unfolding around us now? Or does Wretchard realize that He calls us to trustworthiness and honesty, and Kerry has seriously missed out on exhibiting either of these attributes?

I'd love to be a regular contributor, but Wretchard might take offense... :P

Tell me why that the Republicans can not see the forest for the trees. After the first presidential debate where the incumbant president gets spanked, the republicans say its a draw. After the first vice-presidential debate the republicans say Cheney kicked butt. Even though his lies were so outrageous he could of won a contest, and most polls shows at the very least it was a draw. I think that is what the Republican party has come down to, nothing but lies. I always wondered how Hitler could of brainwashed so many people? Take a look at the Republican party, you have a guy that tells everyone he served on the same swift boat with John Kerry, but what he doesn't say is that he served a year after John Kerry had left Vietnam. If a person can write a book about someone that they had never met than I guess I can write a book about John O'Neill. This is an idiot that claims that anyone that served in the waters off Vietnam did not serve in Vietnam. I suppose all of the sailors that served on aircraft carriers and destroyers and brought supplies to the country appreciate that. More than likely they see an idiot with a grudge. By the way my book would probably sell since my last name is O'Neill.
