Going in was a mistake. Having gone in, pulling out would be a bigger mistake.
No contradiction there. We can disagree on the first point about going in and reasonable minds can differ, IMHO, but to say we CANNOT cut and run now does not mean going in was prudent to begin with.
To me, the biggest danger sign is the targeted killing of those Iraqis who cooperate with the West. Like those killed today in Gaza for working with the Israelis. Unless we can protect those Iraqis and their families who help us, we cannot win.
Next, we need to protect the civilian truck drivers (for example) from the neighboring nations.

And I call for a plague on all sides for looking at this too short term. Both the "Left" and the "Right."
Winning or losing in the 3rd inning of a baseball game is irrelevant. The mission is very far from accomplished and IMHO America will need more infantry to rotate into deployment before this is over.
