Questions For Bill Here is a compilation of what some people would like to see in the Great Prevaricator's book, when it's released next week. I have lots of these myself, but here's one that no one else mentioned: Will he deny the rape charge? Will he call Juanita Broderick a liar? He's never had a comment on this--whenever asked, he has simply said to talk to his lawyer. His lawyer denies it, of course, but that's meaningless since he has no knowledge. ummm... this post makes no sense at all... "would Posted"? Posted by Ed Minchau at June 14, 2004 10:50 AM?? The post looks fine to me, but your comment doesn't make any sense. Can you elaborate on just what you think the problem is? [Going off to look in Explorer] Sorry, it was fine in Mozilla, but there was a missing quote mark in the link when made it look weird in Gatesware. It should be fixed now. Posted by Rand Simberg at June 14, 2004 10:55 AMAccording to Christopher Hitchens in NO ONE LEFT TO LIE TO its more like 3 rape charges, all three women had not met and were able to describe some unique detail on his penis. It may be he's innocent and all but Hitchens made a pretty convincing case. Posted by ruprecht at June 14, 2004 11:08 AMRand, once again you missed the memo. Today our President (George W. Bush) spoke at length about the contributions made by one William Jefferson Clinton: http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20040614/ap_on_go_pr_wh/clintons_portraits_3 Dubya on Slick Willie: "Bill Clinton could always see a better day ahead and Americans knew he was working hard to bring that day closer," Bush said. "Over eight years it was clear that Bill Clinton loved the job of the presidency. He filled this house with energy and joy. He's a man of enthusiasm and warmth, who could make a compelling case and effectively advance the causes that drew him to public service." Dubya on Hillary: "She inspires respect and loyalty from those who know her, and it was a good day in both their lives when they met at the library at Yale Law School," Bush said of Mrs. Clinton and her husband. Bill on President Bush: "Clinton said: "The president, by his generous words to Hillary and me today, has proved once again that in the end, we are held together by this grand system of ours that permits us to debate and struggle and fight for what we believe is right." = = = Things work best when we agree that being American is more important than being liberal or conservative, Democrat or Republican. Don't you agree?
I only referred to Broadderick because she's the only one who's come forward publicly and accused him. I agree with George Will's assessment of Clinton--he's not the worst president we've ever had, but he's probably the worst man ever to be president. Posted by Rand Simberg at June 14, 2004 11:12 AMI'm not sure what you would have expected the president to say on such an occasion. No, I guess I haven't "gotten the memo" when it comes to assessing Bill Clinton. I call spades spades. Bush is the one who wants to "change the tone" in Washington. I'm willing to do that, as long as it doesn't mean continuing the coverups, but he apparently thinks that it means sweeping dirt under the rug. Things work best when we agree that being American is more important than being liberal or conservative, Democrat or Republican. Don't you agree? Yes, I agree, but I'm not sure what that has to do with the Clintons. Are you saying that in the interest of comity, we should ignore criminal behavior? Posted by Rand Simberg at June 14, 2004 11:17 AMBush was extremely generous to Clinton. Clinton had no choice but to be gracious in return, given the setting and the occasion. Look for Clinton to backstab Bush at the earliest partisan convenience. Clinton was good friends with organized criminals and drug runners in Arkansas. He had a sense of invulnerability to critics that may have been partially justified. If he raped anyone, I'm sure he did it well and for a good reason, taking proper precautions so he would not be punished. Posted by Miguel at June 14, 2004 12:17 PMIf he raped anyone, I'm sure he did it well and for a good reason, taking proper precautions so he would not be punished. What would constitute a "good reason"? I suspect the reason was lust. Combine that with a sense of entitlement and invulnerability, being the Attorney General of the state, and you have means, motive, opportunity. Posted by Rand Simberg at June 14, 2004 12:21 PMGetting back to the original question, why do you think he'll mention the rape charges at all? It's a work of vanity after all. If he does mention his "fidelity problems" he'll likely try to put himself in the best light possible. Posted by Jason Bontrager at June 14, 2004 12:37 PMGetting back to the original question, why do you think he'll mention the rape charges at all? Why do you think that I think that he'll mention the rape charges? I'm quite certain he won't (unless in the context of demonstrating how the VRWC slandered him). The point is that these are questions we'd like to see answered, not that they're ones that we expect to see answered. Posted by Rand Simberg at June 14, 2004 12:43 PMHere's my question: "After the Kosovo War, Islamic terrorism in that region greatly expanded, and Serbs today live under the growing threat of ethnic cleansing. What, if anything, could you have done anything differently to prevent this?" Posted by Alan K. Henderson at June 14, 2004 10:00 PMI had a good laugh when I heard this part: "Over eight years it was clear that Bill Clinton loved the job of the presidency. He filled this house with energy and joy. He's a man of enthusiasm and warmth . . ." Yes, especially with a certain intern in the Oval Office . . .
