Black Irish?
Archaelogists have discovered evidence that some people in the borderlands of England may be descended from Moors from northern Africa, Roman soldiers brought over to guard Hadrian's wall. One more interesting ingredient to the mix of Picts, Saxons et al.
Also a little ironic, considering that many of these people are the so-called Scots-Irish who settled much of Appalachia and the American south, with its slavery and anti-miscegany laws.

Tom Fitzmorris is a local radio announcer in New Orleans. His beat is New Orleans food, and he's been doing his work marvelously for years. (Try the New Orleans Menu.)
I heard him explain the origins of "Fitzmorris" one time. He said that "Fitz-" means "bastard son of". He said that "-morris" means "Moorish" as in "of the Moors".
There ya go.

Years ago my mother (a Morris descendant) explained "Black Irish" as having something to do with "the moors" but I got the distinct impression she thought it referred to a landform, not an ethnicity.

The Moors were not negroes, they were Arabs and North African. North African people are not black.
