You mean a little thing called perspective? Hmmm, what a concept!

Hmm, I'd have put in that Saddam Hussein didn't stay in power.

I think that was a given, Karl. He was talking about all the bad things that could happen as a result of removing him from power.

The problem with this piece is the word "yet" can be added to the end of pretty much every single one the items he lists. 1 is still possible, although with modern security and understanding hopefully unlikely. It shouldn't have happened in 1983 either. There weren't any serious bombing errors which is good.
The jury is still well out on the civil war angle, so to crow about it is rather pointless. Likewise the Iraqi economy is still an open verdict.
Personally I'm waiting for the first corruption scandal to hit - the way in which contracts were awarded has been called into serious question.
And we'll wait and see on soliders - how long elapsed between the start of soliders in Vietnam and the first returning soliders getting vocal about it?

Ten years on, you'll still be saying, "The civil war is going to start any day now!"
...how long elapsed between the start of soliders in Vietnam and the first returning soliders getting vocal about it?
In significant numbers?
Years.
