Not An Endorsement He Needed
I haven't seen Gibson's movie, but I didn't think that it was anti-semitic until I read this--now I'm having doubts. I doubt if Yasser thinks that the Protocols of the Elders of Zion is anti-semitic.

Mr. Sindberg- Would you take Yassir's word on ANYthing? No? Than why would you give him credibility as a movie critic? (and next up on Siskel and Arafat...)
Go see the movie. People tend to walk out of it having their preconceptions confirmed- i.e. if you go IN looking for antisemitism, you'll find it. But that's true of anything, and any form of discrimination, not so?
I walked in and sat down with no preconceptions of any sort (other than hoping that I wouldn't be exposed to another antiChristian Hollywood extravaganza like that Noah's Ark thing a few years back) and I walked out firmly convinced that there was no objective antisemitism there (unless you want to refer to the New Testament as antisemitic, which some people I have seen commenting on The Passion seem to do). Further opinion on request.

DaveP, I fear that you are sarcasm challenged...

I have this feeling that he really wasn't thinking it was not anti-semitic, rather that it was not anti-semitic *enough*.
How bad do you suppose the antisemitism would have to be before Yasser would find it distasteful?

Of course Yassir would think that. There were no negeative depictions of *Arabs* (also Semites).

Rand- Go take a look at some of what passes for critical reviews of that particular movie. Then tell me where YOUR "sarcasm awareness threshold" would be...

Arafat's advisor Nabil Abu Rdainah told the official Palestinian news agency WAFA the 74-year-old former guerrilla leader had hailed the film as "moving and historical."
Historical? I bet he's not including the part about the Resurrection. That wouldn't sit too well with his comrades in arms.

I'm curious who 'bootlegged' the DVD he watched. That's pretty chintzy when he could have his wife wire some of their 11 million in a French bank so he could afford a ticket. (That's a joke for all those who think I don't know he would have a hard time getting to a theater)
