Cryonics Emergency
For those who have been following the nonsense in Arizona over putting the state funeral board in charge of cryonics regulation, we thought that the situation was under control, with the sponsor of the bill appearing to be reasonable. However, Alcor now says that he's been dealing in bad faith, and is now trying to rush a devastating bill through the state house tomorrow.
If you're an Arizona resident, and want to keep your options open for life extension, it's very important that you go read the link, and contact your representative tomorrow to urge him or her to vote against this bill.
And anyone in Mr. Stump's district might want to investigate the potential for replacing him this year...

The bill passed a voice vote in the House. Welcome to the new Dark Age. The Luddites and religious nuts are winning. I don't know if Alcor is planning to flee the state or go out of business. The bill still has to pass the state Senate and be signed by the Governor, but at this point I'm not optimistic. CI survived their regulation attempt, looks like Alcor may not be that lucky. Another victory for the Luddites. Perhaps we should start calling them the Ghouls - one of their primary goals is that they want everyone to die.

Things aren't quite so dire. Last second dealing on the house floor did help, and the worst of what they tried to slip by didn't make it. There is still room for improving amendments in the Senate.
