This is exactly the sort of thing you get whenever you practice extreme sexual repression. Be it prohibiting regular sexual relations as the RC's do, or prohibiting casual social interactions with women as much of the Islamic world does.
Sex is one of the most powerful urges we have. Repress it and it doesn't go away, it just gets twisted.

No, it has nothing to do with "sexual repression". Catholic priests are no more likely to be pedophiles than, say, Protestant ministers, even though the Protestants have no mandatory celibacy. Catholics do get more publicity for it, though...
