Perhaps if they hadn't made it a point to drive out independent people, they might not have this particular problem. Or several others we can all think of.

Well, they haven't driven all of the independent minded folks out of the agency - but they sure have trained those that remain rather well when it comes to not rocking the boat.

Of course they haven't driven out all the people who think for themselves. It was especially bad where I worked, but there are still good people doing good work at NASA. They have to put up with more and more nonsense, though.
I hope O'Keefe can make some positive changes. But it's very difficult to do when so many people who would be valuable allies in reform have been driven out by the very people who are screwing up.
