Nice Nonwork, If You Can Get It

Former NASA administrator (and according to many NASA employees, current whack job) Dan Goldin just took a two million dollar severance package as a payoff to not become the next president of Boston University.

I would've gladly refused to be their president for only a tenth of that!

You know there's something wrong with you when someone will pay you *that* handsomely to *not* work for them.

But judging by his comments from earlier in the week, where he threatened quite acidly to sue BU if they rescinded the offer, I'm quite sure that Mr. Goldin instead feels like he is the real winner in this matter, no matter what it really says about him to the world.

Anyone who can stick it to BU is ok by me, but that's strictly a personal issue ;)

Damn.

I was so looking forward to those stories with headlines like "Former NASA Adminstrator Found in Homeless Shelter."

Oh, well.

I'm working on a post re: corporatization of American universities.

You might be surprised at the corruption in YOUR universities (including PRIVATE universities, which feed at the trough of federal largesse more than you may be aware).

Damn the man, but have you given thought to the process via which he arises?
