Dumbing Them Down If I were a Cornell alum, I'd be pretty embarrassed about this. Posted by Rand Simberg at August 21, 2003 10:07 AMTrackBack URL for this entry:

UHHH, why should a Cornell alum be embarrassed by Cynthia McKinney's appointment? Did she aid and give comfort to terrorists? Is she a traitor to the United States? Ahh... It's the mythical statement she made implying the Bush Administration knew about the pending 9/11 attacks but did nothing to stop them. Right... McKinney was screwed and I don't even care for the woman. And how many others have ACTUALLY said worse and still are around. Plenty. If for no other reason, because she's an idiot. Posted by Rand Simberg at August 21, 2003 11:01 AMS-Train, please share with the rest of us the basis on which you claim her making that statement is "mythical." I have a feeling I've seen a claim much like it be disposed of rather effectively long, long ago. Posted by Kevin McGehee at August 21, 2003 11:06 AMPerhaps S-Train could enlighten us on her qualifications to teach in Cornell's School of Architecture, Art and Planning. There is nothing I can discern in her resume that remotely qualifies her. She might as well be teaching in an engineering or physical sciences department. It seems the cult of celebrity has now taken over Ivy League schools as well. Posted by Harry at August 21, 2003 12:19 PMHarry: Porus Olpadwala, dean of Cornell's School of Architecture, Art and Planning, is the chairman of the 13-member faculty committee that selected McKinney for the part-time professorship. She's not teaching in the School of Architecture. That hasn't been specified yet. Kevin: House transcripts do not have the statement that she made. And this alleged comment was told to have said in an official House session. My friend, Greg Palast wrote an article about this in June 2003 at AlterNet. Here is the direct link: http://www.alternet.org/story.html?StoryID=16172 Rand: So now were talking about idiots, huh? Well, I was a former gang-member that was rescued by local Muslim Imam and a caring father. I did terrible things. After reforming myself and becoming a productive member of my community, I was given a guest lecturer position at Eastern Michigan University because of my experience in urban sociology. I performed, and still do, my duties well. Mrs. McKinney is WAY MORE LEARNED than I and this PART-TIME position should embarrass Cornell alums?? I'm sorry. I just don't see it. Posted by S-Train at August 21, 2003 02:55 PMS-Train, she may be "far more learned" than you, but I doubt if she's half as smart. She has said, and continues to say, very foolish things. Posted by Rand Simberg at August 21, 2003 03:38 PMIndepundit has some McKinney quotes. Here's one: "To any honest observer, Zimbabwe's sin is that it has taken the position to right a wrong, whose resolution has been too long overdue--to return its land to its people." Posted by Alan K. Henderson at August 21, 2003 10:09 PMAKH: "...to return its land to its people." That is, to all of the murderous thugs who support Mugabe; who know jack shit about farming, turning Zimbabwe from a land that exported food, to one that is begging the UN/EUnuchs for food aid to stave off incipient famine. But hey, a politically correct brown former Congress critter approves of the situation created by the politically correct brown dictator, starving the politically correct brown citizenry, so who are we politically incorrect whities to judge? So, are you on board with this program S-Train? Her being so much more learned than you, after all. P.S. There's a reason Neal Boortz used to call her "The cutest little communist in Congress." Posted by at August 21, 2003 11:46 PMMcKinney: Not mythical at all. By the way, re the original post: I am, and I am. Posted by Chris Hall at August 22, 2003 05:33 AMWell, I don't care if she brown, black, or white. And I have no problem with "whities" judging black folks that are doing stupid things. I'll give you this, I didn't hear the Zimbabwe quote. Now I'm for returning a land to its people, PROVIDED those weren't the murdering thugs that got the place going down in the first place (I'm a member of the African Front, part of the African Union). I don't like what she said about Zimbabwe cause she sounds very uninformed. Maybe, I'll do a little more digging on Mrs. McKinney and see what I find. For now, I stand corrected, SLIGHTLY... :) Posted by S-Train at August 23, 2003 05:55 AMI understood that the comment in which she most strongly alluded to Bush having prior knowledge of 9/11 was in a radio interview, though I could be wrong. Pacifica Radio Network? Posted by Kevin McGehee at August 23, 2003 10:32 AMWell, well, well...the most telling statement in that article, and all the statements here, is not whether she accused the Presidents Bush of collusion the 9/11 attacks. The real telling statement is where she has been and where she is going. And it sure as hell ain't Georgia! Folks, most of the minorities in our fine country, including Geogia, hope their son or daugter will be able to find a job after high school, or hope against the odds they get to go to college. IF and I mean IF, the child is an athelete, as a minority he or she will be in an even smaller minority to get a tryout for a major league sports team here in the U.S. No racist finger pointing here, blacks to basketball, football and baseball, hispanics to baseball, etc. Tall iids to basketball, you know the drill as well as I. Is it fair probably not, but thats the way it is. I'm sorry but she is not, was not and will never be, a representative for minorities in Georgia? She is yet another, I know whats best for you, I'm going to live my life my way and you can't stop me or question me, but I want you to live how I think you should, and I'm not going to give you school vouchers so your kids qualify for college in Europe, I got screwed by the Great Conservative Conspiracy Liberal. She's a jerk!! Post a comment |
