Riders could travel from Union Station in Los Angeles to Disneyland in 30 minutes at 6 p.m. on Friday.

Need we ask who is behind it?

The trouble with that marketing point is, are the hotels near Union Station any good? 'Cause, y'know, the people who go to Disneyland are tourists, not locals so much.

<sigh> And Orange County used to be such a conservative place...

There's also another problem with fixed route transportation schemes that's always ignored-- what happens if the areas served change over the lifetime of the service, so the route no longer makes sense? At least streets and roads and freeways can be used to get through those areas. A trolley or monorail or subway is a bit harder to reroute. Even new stations cost a lot of money. (The same can be said about freight railroads vs. trucks, by the way.)
