A New Gig For Baghdad Bob

Den Beste has an excellent employment fit in mind for him, up in Cupertino.

It sometimes seems Den Beste's hatrid of Apple approaches the pathological, and somewhat unbecoming someone who otherwise can show some original insight into other matters.

At least it's a welcome break from the usual Microsoft hating you see everywhere else.

Hey, while I don't own an Apple and never have, they're hardly an evil company.

No -- let's install this guy as head of the RIAA. Or at least their chief publicist.

Now that's a perfect fit.

I have pondered this question myself and I have come to the conclusion that Mohammed Saeed al-Sahhaf will probably become a corrospondent for Al Jazeera or perhaps on the Experts panel at CNN

I read everything Den Beste writes, and find him a deep thinker and original analyst on many matters. However, his hatred of Apple seems blinding and irrational. In reality, there are hints of this in all of his writing about IT, but it is most noticable in his attitude towards Apple.

I seriously think ol' Baghdad Bob should consider immigrating to the US. He'd be a great hit on the talkshow circuit, advertising possibilities everywhere, probably even could swing a movie. With just a small amount of brains and luck he'd be a successful multimillionaire in short order.

'course his wacky religious views may get in the way... but hey, it's just a thought. :-)

Does den Beste have a job, yet?

Posted by earl at April 10, 2003 08:01 PM

I believe he's retired.

I was taken aback myself by the ugliness of the comment - comparing Apple to the Baathists is wandering rather close to Godwin territory, especially when it's done apropos of nothing in particular. However, the suggestion fails for good reason. Steve Jobs has a reality-distortion field that convinces you of everything he says, at least for the moment, but Baghdad Bob has the opposite (an unreality field?) - NO ONE believes a word he says.
