Iraq "Liberated"
If, as Lileks notes, the BBC seems to broadcast with a continual sneer, Bob "Eeyore" Fisk manages to write with one. One can imagine that he fills his inkwell with darkened lemon juice.
His very first sentence puts scare quotes around the word "liberated." Yes, just like that.
He's not totally upset that Saddam is no longer in power, but all the credit goes to the Iraqi people, and the prospects for the peace are, of course, dismal.

Why oh why, do people like Fisk never volunteer to go and live in countries like Iraq? Why don't they go to defend them from our brand of evil? They always see the U.S. as the bad guys, but never go willingly to live with the down trodden masses that we supposedly subjugate.
In fact this pin head works for a company in the U.K. one of a few countries in the world that is an island to itself. They have no external borders to worry about, except when a world power with a huge navy and air force comes after them. Oh I forgot, we already helped them out of that one.
I won't mention lead-lease, I will not speak of Normandy, or Utah Beach.
Let me say for the last time, British journalists who get to speak english and not german, should take some history classes.
The United States of America is the Arsenal of Democracy, we do not conquer and we certainly do not come with looters in tow. We do not support robbery, and anyway some poor people stole from a corrupt government. Would it be a better story for Fisk if they dumped over taxed tea into the bay at Um Qasr? I doubt it, he's BRITISH!!
I can only hope that word will filter back to the young Corporal Breeze he spoke of, about how he was used by Ol' Uncle Bob and that he will search out said journalist, and then punch his lights out. Americans as a rule are brutes and bullies, ask Fisk.
I'm going to sell "Fisk is an idiot!!" t-shirts, any takers.
With that let me say, "Say goodnight Bob!!"

Obviously, there must be some sort of market for Fisk's brand of emission, but I've been driving myself batty trying to imagine a rational mind that would be part of it.
