Disappointing

I'm amazed at how little Andrew Sullivan has to say about this weekend's big story, and how little value there is to what he does say.

Not everyone feels moved to comment about the same things. Are you planning to comment about gay marriage statutes? If Andrew doesn't have much to say about this, I'm glad that he's keeping quiet about it. Better that than the alternative -- going through the motions for its own sake.

He has a wider range of interests than gay rights. My disappointment isn't that he didn't comment on something in which he has no interest, but his lack of interest.

Don't be too harsh on Sulli, but I kind of get your point. Rand. But maybe it is a sign of our times that space exploration and the attendant issues fail to appeal to a lot of people, especially those who came up from the humanities and don't find science or tech issues interesting. However, I don't think Sullivan is an anti-science snob. Quite the opposite.

It's also worth noting that Andrew is an Englishman, not an American.

I doubt the citizens of any other nation feel as passionately about spaceflight as we Americans do.

I did some random weblog clicking yesterday, from weblogs.com, and was amazed at the number of American blogs I saw that didn't consider it worth a mention (or maybe didn't even know). A few were political bloggers, too.
Any rate, the science community is abuzz. Rand, you might be interested in the SSTO discussion going on here...

I'm personally finding it a lot harder to believe that Steven Den Beste has absolutely NOTHING to say about it.

Steve:
Yes he does.

I think he meant from a technical standpoint, Kathy.
