Columbia Haiku Contest
Here's my first entry to kick it off:
Futility
Fire in the sky
No warning or procedure
Heroes gone to rest
I'll post the best in a couple days as they trickle in.

COLUMBIA
Like snow, on green pines
Floating, flying to heaven:
Seven falling stars

A comet blazes
Funeral pyre of heroes
Eternal glory

The face of G-d, touched
This time on descent

Sixteen minutes to home
So close yet so far away
Farwell good friends

This time on descent

Astronauts' Gravestones
Bright star by daylight
The only real marker of
Our heroes' passing.
