Golden Oldie

In thinking about the past weekend's marches, and their sponsors, and the unwillingness of so many to distance themselves from them, I was reminded a post that I put up a couple months after the towers fell, about what I did in a similar situation, when much younger than most of last weekend's marchers.

Many of us from the late 60's and early 70's were in your shoes. I did protest the war, it seemed to me immoral in that friends of mine had big brothers getting drafted because they could not afford to go to college. Not to mention the stories of the big brothers who came home with the old 1000 yard stare. It was wrong to fight there because the people who started and escalated the war NEVER INTENDED TO WIN. It was wrong for that reason only, that was the realization I came to after talkng to the big brothers and watching TV and doing my own thinking. I used to be a Liberal when the Liberals in this country stood FOR things, now they stand between us and our God given rights. In that way I agree with your past posting, these people want the dissolution (sp) of our country. They are socialist at best, communists at worst. Either way they are a danger to us all.

And just for the sake of saying, I did eventually serve in the military, joining just 2 years after the fall of Saigon, some of the guys I served with were Viet Nam vets, with their stories and that same 1000 yard stare.
