Well, I Feel Safer Now

A woman in Texas is going to be prosecuted for possession of too many marital aids.

I guess if you have more than six pleasuring devices, you're a "dealer." Apparently, she had "parties" where she would introduce women to the products, and get them "hooked," leading them ultimately to a life of dissolution and despair, living only for their vibrator "fix."

She could get up to two years.

Police stopped Grubbs' truck after seeing her driving erratically, an arrest report said.

I think they meant, "driving erotically...."

Glad they have still have time to get dangerous criminals like this off the street, even while we're being targeted by homicidal nutballs from the rest of the world.

This is why I object so strongly to nuisance laws. When you make dumb stuff like that illegal, that's what the cops are going to go after - because those are the easy targets. My experience is that cops take the path of least resistance, which is why I've never been pulled over for speeding in the rain - who wants to get wet to issue a ticket?

If the govt was really worried about the effects of marijuana on children, would they be raiding medical marijuana co-ops? Or would they be tracking down and jailing dealers who sold to kids? If the govt was really worried about gun crime, would they be harrassing legitimate dealers, or would they be tracking down and jailing people who made illegal gun sales? The former in each case, obviously. But what they're really interested in is justifying their budgets by keeping arrest rates up while contributing the least amount of effort. Make the less important stuff legal, so the cops won't have any choice but to concentrate on the stuff that's actually dangerous to us. I worry far more about rapists than vibrators on the street.

Remind me not to move to Texas. That's one state where I wouldn't want to be a near-criminal...

I've lived in Texas most of my life, and this is distressingly typical of law enforcement priorities down here. As Attorney General, newly elected Senator Cornyn made his reputation trying to stamp out the menace of gambling. In particular, his nemeses were 8-liners, slot-like machines that dispence coupons or other low dollar-value prizes and the Tigua casino in El Paso.

There is a huge political market in Texas for this sort of soapbox moral crusade. I would not be a bit surprised if Sen. Cornyn's pet issue becomes something like using Federal power to force Nevada to criminalize gambling and prostitution. Far-fetched? maybe, but it would guarantee re-election back home.

How many "marital aids" does it take to qualify as an arsenal? Can we only buy them now from holders of an FDL? Will the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Vibrators resume "dynamic entry" raids?

Yeesh -- that last question was an inadvertent quadruple entendre. They'll be after me for sure.

"I've lived in Texas most of my life, and this is distressingly typical of law enforcement priorities down here."

Sounds like it really has gone from

Rumors spreadin' 'round in that Texas town, 'bout that shack outside LaGrange...

to

Texas has got a whorehouse in it -- Lord have mercy on our souls!

Yeah there are some pretty strict penal codes in Texas

Posted by Hefty at November 22, 2002 02:52 PM

Sounds a lot like what I call "Georgia Crime". This is long, but I will try to condense:

Divorced couple get together for a night of fun. Later, she accuses him of rape. He is acquited because the charge was not true, but during the trial he admits to going down on her and is duly convicted of the crime of...er..."orally pleasuring" her.

But it gets better. Some time later, a judge rules that Georgia's prisons are overcrowded and orders the release of all prisoners who have served some arbitrary fraction (I think it was half) of their sentence. Freed are murderers, rapists, robbers, etc. The ex-husband in our little story remains in prison, having not yet served long enough.

In fairness, of course, it is certainly likely that this guy could do it again if released.

In case you were not aware, if she pleads or is found guilty of this "violation" - a felony with the possibility of a two-year sentence, regardless of what sentence she receives - she will lose her right to own a firearm under a Federal statute.

Sell dildoes in Texas? Lose your right to arms.

THAT makes a lot of sense, doesn't it?

"Police stopped Grubbs' truck after seeing her driving erratically, an arrest report said."

I wonder if that's because she was using part of her collection at the time.
