Intifada In Ann Arbor
The University of Michigan is going to be sponsoring a Palestinian hatefest in a couple of weeks in Ann Arbor.
A couple nice quotes:
Glossing over Palestinian terrorism, the mission statement declares "it is not our place to dictate the strategies or tactics adopted by the Palestinians in their struggle for liberation." This outsourcing of morality allows the group to focus on Israel's sins while ignoring those slaughtered by Palestinian suicide bombers.
and
You have to wonder two things: How would the university react had the Klan or some other extremist group spouting racist, sexist or homophopic hate speech asked for a platform on campus? And when did anti-Semitism lose its seat on the bus of political correctness?

Maybe the writer means, "when did anti-Semitism *get* a seat on the bus of political correctness."

As to the Klan, we know the answer: They are white thus obviously guilty. No matter what. If you are a shade darker than cardboard and of a defined oppressed group, you'd have to burn an orphanage down, urinate on the ashes...and shoot the fireman to get someone to take note.

I recently lived in Ann Arbor (1998 or 1999), and while it wasn't held on campus, the Klan held a big rally at a park there. If my memory is correct several students were charged with inciting a riot while counter-protesting the Klan.
What I remember the most is the daily protests of students who were upset about the criminal prosecution of the people who were charged in the counter protest. In their view, the Klan should not have had the freedom to express their hate speech, while the students should be free to wage violence against the Klan.
(Note, I'm certainly not supporting the Klan here, but I thought it was interesting how the anti-Klan supporters were so upset that they were being charged for attempting to start a riot).

We need to contemplate shipping the Ann Arbor Faculty to Yassers compound. Let them see first hand how oppressive the regime is. This begs the question: Why are the neighboring Arab states not allowing the Palestinians into their lands? Answer: They have their own population of thugs to deal with and don't need any more...
