Revolution In The Making?

This is a company to watch.

They're building low-cost small passenger jets. This could be the death knell for the airline industry as currently constituted. It won't be good for Boeing and Airbus, either.

More thoughts later.

Also, check out www.penguinairlines.com. Their plan is to use Eclipse 500 jets to move the passengers and Linux to move their information - it looks like their planning to use Linux in all parts of their computing infrastructure.

Am I to conclude they won't be using Red Hat...?

I think this is alos signififcant for the RLV start ups, epsecially the new low cost manufacturing techniques the're using. Their jets could laos be useful for guys like Pioneer who want to use jets and rockets

Reminds me of the Moeller SkycCar.

Not until they build bigger planes, they won't.

At current, this seems like it's mainly bad news for Gulfstream and its ilk, because they are the ones this plane is competing against.

This won't put the big airliners out of business, for the same reason that limos don't put Greyhound out of business: the cost of the person driving the vehicle. Pilots are expensive. It's much cheaper to have two pilots flying a medium-sized or large plane than one of these, because you get to split the cost of the pilots up among many more people.

Hopefully they are planning to build larger jets as their income and experience go up.
