He Has To Look Up To See Down

I got a chuckle out of this. I don't normally cite Drudge, not because he's not credible--he does as good a job as the NYT, at least lately--but because he doesn't have permalinks. It's one of the things that makes him not a true blogger, in my opinion.

Anyway, Donahue has garnered the lowest Nielsen rating possible, a 0.1. If they had negative numbers, he'd be the guy to do it. It's a great picture, too--his normal (at least these days) crazed deer-in-the-headlights look.

How much longer is MSNBC going to keep this loser on the air? I guess brainless leftist claptrap doesn't sell that well any more.

[update a couple minutes later]

And in more good news, oxygen.com is gasping for air. Guess Oprah's not the draw she used to be, either.

Muwakkil, of one of the Chicago papers and regularly cited at commondreams.org, laments today that Donahue is not getting enough of a ratings push. And the fault is Fox News. His reasoning? That between Murdoch and Ailes, O'Reilly and company have the benefit of a company that has an ideological mission. Of course, how that is supposed to affect the absence of LIBERAL viewers for Donahue is unclear.

Man, that's got to hurt.

But I have a plan. MSNBC needs a show to compete with Fox News' Hannity and Colmes, or CNN's venerable shoutfest, Crossfire, with Carville/Begala and Carlson/Novak.

ANNOUNCE: "From MSNBC in New York, it's Clinton and Keyes."

Bill: "Good evening, my fellow Americans... You know, seems like a long time since I've said that before." (laughs)

Alan: "I tried to warn you, America. He's baack."

Bill: "The Comeback Kid..." (crosstalk)

Alan: "...still not making sense. And we'll see how good your comebacks are. (pauses) Do I really have to call you Bill?"

Bill: "Call me Bill. 'Mr. President' is too formal."

Alan: (sighs) "At least I beat Donahue."

Hehe funny stuff Ken.

I was actually in the studio audience in one of Donahue's shows a long time ago. It was something about the collapse of the Texas Saving & Loans. I shook his hand after the show and everything. The whole show everyone was trying to find someone to blame on who's fault it was for the all the banking problems. And then finally someone else in the audience said something that it was Reagans fault and Donahue was like, "Oh pleeeeeaaase, don't tell me that all of you Texans, this is one of the states that helped get him elected after all, are going to try and pen the blame on Reagan for all this mess." And the whole audience booed and hissed him like crazy after that.

You know, a year ago, I would go to Drudge 2-3 times/day. Today, its been months since I went there tho I still have him bookmarked for some strange reason. Not only has he completely ignored blogdom, with the sole exceptions of Kaus and Sullivan, he delinked Mugger and NYPress in a snit over one of their columns. So we've now got the pot calling the kettle black when he rags on big media.
