Another Hijacking Averted

A two-inch toy rifle, designed to be shouldered by a G.I. Joe doll, was confiscated at LAX.

A spokesman for Los Angeles International Airport said: "We have instructions to confiscate anything that looks like a weapon or a replica."

"If GI Joe was carrying a replica then it had to be taken from him."

I'm starting to wonder if the Bush Administration's acquiescence in the federalization of airport security was a rope-a-dope ploy, knowing that imbecilities like this would eventually destroy all public support for it.

I think it's time the pro-Bush argumentum ad "rope-a-dope" is banished for good.

Was Richard Nixon a successful conservative President because his colossally stupid economic policies made it easier for Ronald Reagan to get elected? Get real.

And,when the public gets truly fed up at airport security, won't the Democrats be able to say, "Bush did that".

Bush is human like the rest of us. When he makes mistakes, let's not pretend it's part of some brilliant secret plan.

Even an unarmed GI Joe might be a 1970s model equipped with the Kung Fu Grip. Tighten security even more!

Sorry, hope springs eternal. I'd like to think that we aren't being presided over by a dolt. (Not that Mr. Gore is any less of one.)

Hey, he's an armed American GI. If Air Sec really thinks he's a danger, it ain't to us.

Follow their logic. Put him on the plane where he's needed...in front of the door to the cockpit.

Ha!

The Sanity Inspector brings up an important detail.

Was this a modern (tiny) Joe, or one of the 12" high
1970s ones (or the modern collector's version)?

The tiny ones aren't even threatening to C.O.B.R.A....

Ken, I'm pretty sure my brother's old 12" G.I. Joe carried a rifle much longer than two inches.
