Never Mind...

To paraphrase Emily Litella, the Chinese government says that they have no near-term plans to go to the Moon. Suffice it to say, I'm not surprised.

That's not exactly true. The Chief Scientist of China's lunar program says that the first probe to the Moon will be unmanned and that he "doesn't know" of any immediate plans to send people there.

And the significant semantic difference between "have no near-term plans" and the Chief Scientist "not knowing of any immediate plans" is...?

Are you saying that they do have near-term plans, but that they haven't informed their Chief Scientist? Or that he's lying, and that you know better?

At best, this sounds like Clintonism to me. But I'll take them at their word. They aren't planning to go to the Moon right now. Which makes perfect sense to me, since they don't really know how to do it, or why they should.
