Where's The Outrage? I already mentioned this this morning (a few posts down), but here's a press story. The Church is angry at the Israelis for shooting at the Church of the Nativity (in apparent response to sniper fire from it). No similar anger is expressed at the Palestinian commandos who took over the place. In fact, not only are they not angry, but they're attempting to negotiate a deal to move them to Gaza, after they've given up their weapons. Why are they doing this? Do they think they've done nothing wrong? Or is it because they don't want the church to sustain any more damage, and risk the lives of the hostages (who they will not admit are hostages) in the battle that it would require to capture or kill them? If the former, they are moral morons, and don't deserve to run a Sunday school, let alone a Christian church. If the latter, then it's clear that the church and its inhabitants are hostages to the situation, regardless of the mealy-mouthed platitudes being pronounced by their eminences. And either way, they're apparently perfectly comfortable with rewarding terrorism with freedom to go out and do it some more (there's likely no shortage of replacement guns in Gaza). Christians everywhere should be outraged. Posted by Rand Simberg at April 09, 2002 03:09 PMTrackBack URL for this entry:

Does anybody remember what the Holy Church did immediately after WW2? They gave shelter to a large number of nazis, supplied them with forged papers and sent them to Argentina, Brazil, Chile and some (most?) Arabs countries. Recently, a wanted genocidal criminal priest (it was not only children he molested) from Rwanda was discovered preaching in a church near Florence. What did the Vatican do when it became public? Helped him into hiding until he gave himself up months later. The two genocidal Huttu nuns who got that, oh so heavy and cruel, 12 year sentence in Belgium (Europeans don't believe in punishment: it is too simplistic) for having helped with the murder of hundreds of Tutsi nuns (one of them supplied the petrol for their burning), had been living peacefully for years in Brussels under the protection of the Church. As you can see, the Vatican does really have some know how in these matters. There is however one thing I actually fail to understand: you have all those brave Muslim boys; they brandish their Kalashnikovs, they cry out for Jihad, say they want to be martyrs and threaten the whole world; then, at the sight of the first Israeli tank, they run and hide behind the dress of a nun! Am I missing something here?
