Ouch

Ramesh Ponnuru, on Fred Thompson's description of John McCain's POW experiences:

He makes it sound almost as impressive as turning down a Wall Street job.

Or the hard life of being a "community organizer."

One question I hope somebody asks Obama:

"How does a community organizer get fired?"

Meaning -- most jobs have more or less defined success/failure criteria. If you fail, you get fired. Some jobs are so ill-defined, failing is impossible (they are called sinecures). On some other jobs it is possible to fail, but due to union rules, seniority, tenure, etc. an individual can not be fired either (they are also sinecures). So the question is: What does a community organizer have to do (or not do) in order to lose his job?

AP Radio news this morning described Palin this way: "Former PTA President with only 2 years as Governor" No bias there...

I wonder if AP can be quoted with: "Former community organizer with only 3 years as US Senator"

I guess 8 years in the Illinois State Senate, Professor of Constitutional Law at the University of Chicago (yes, he was offered tenure 7 times and turned it down every time), graduating in the top 10% of his class at Harvard, Editor of the Harvard Law Review; yes, I guess these do count for more than being a Hockey Mom or a Sports Vehicle Saleswoman. Perhaps not to you guys though.

Meanwhile, don't Barack and Michelle come across as a wholesome American family? Hmm.

When is she going to withdraw? The rumors about Trig are really swirling. Really, why not just release the surgeon's report and get the "problem" out of the way? Why not? What's she afraid of?

They are only "swirling" in the toilet in which you and your kind apparently reside.

She's not afraid of anything. There is no "problem" to "get out of the way." She simply sees no point in dignifying these obviously desperate smears from bottom feeders like you and Andrew Sullivan.

She would rather you keep Impalin yourself on your own retardedness.

There's something I've been wondering about for a while, and this seems like as good a place as any to ask it. Does anyone know what a "community organizer" is? There's almost no information about it on Obama's web site. Who paid his paycheck? What were his duties and accomplishments? I'm serious, I'd really like to know.

What's funny in a not too funny way is that the MSM has dug deeper into Palin's background in a week than they've dug into Obama's background over several years. What exactly was Obama's relationship with ACORN. You can find a few details but little to nothing on MSM news outlets.

I'd say "community organizer" == "political officer" == apparatchik

If the "apparat" isn't (yet) in power then they're usually just semi-professional rabble rousers (demagogues) and network builders.

Do we get to talk about what he did while in the IL state senate? Voting "present" isn't much of an accomplishment.

Of course, that's more than he did in the US Senate, where his subcommittee didn't even hold hearings. Said subcommittee is the one with some responsibility for Georgia.

The Chicago folks deny that.

Besides, do you really want to argue that being a law professor is a presidential qualification?

Think carefully. If you believe that firing your sister's loser ex-husband is a bad thing, your political intuition is dead wrong. (Failing to fire him is a political liability in this world.)
