Oh, I don’t know. It would almost certainly cause most of the cowardly woke to mind their manners. The few nervy ones would be promptly dead – useful object lessons. People who developed a hypertrophied taste for duelling might be taken down appropriately through creatively exercised choice of weapons as traditionally accorded the challenged. Overripe tomatoes at ten paces, say. And the genuine hard asses confronted unreasonably could always call for – as my WW2 veteran late father used to say – “cleavers in a dark cellar.” Even men with formidable reputations as pistoleros or swordsmen would blanch and backpedal at such a suggestion back in the day.
