Well, I guess our fuel will be getting shipped overseas when foreign customers offer our oil companies more money for it than our companies are legally allowed to ask for. Maybe the extra can be called a processing and delivery fee or something.
Directive 10-289 except the Democrats can’t manage to write concisely.
It is even worse. Listen to Jerome Powell in this podcast. At about 20 minutes in, he talks about what the government can do to battle inflation, lower demand.
How does a government lower the demand of the entire economy?
They want to bleed the populace until people have no money to spend and then there will be no demand. They don’t want to balance the budget, it isn’t even mentioned. Nope, just use government to crush the aspirations of the populace for their own good. After all, wasn’t it their fault we are in this mess in the first place?
Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want and deserve to get it good and hard.
– H.L. Mencken, A Little Book In C Major
The Dems, as always, should be careful what they wish for. When gas prices were last “controlled” in the 70s we got gas lines and odd-even rationing. If this legislation passes – very much an open question rather than a slam-dunk – the return of gas lines could happen just in time for the mid-term elections. Wouldn’t that be fun.
