Congratulations to Anita and Michelle, among others. I worked with Anita at Rockwell for years, and Michelle is my corporate counsel (when I need one).

I was in L5, so transitioned to NSS at the merger. I kept up my membership for a few years, and attended a few chapter meetings, but let the whole thing lapse some time before the turn of the century. I;m not sure when I dropped my bis membership. Maybe 7 or 8 years ago. The whole enterprise has come to seem pointless.
Anita is great, but she does have her hands full. Like NASA, the NSS is in desperate need of a rejuvenation, and they don’t have a lot of depth in the minor leagues. There was always a weird bifurcation between the national leadership and the local chapters, a result of the very different philosophies of the NSI and L5. Still, if you look at the leadership, it’s a lot of the same names you saw in the teens, aughts, 90s, 80s, 70s, ad absurdum. So why exactly is it that the youngsters should be interested in what NSS does?
I’ve really lost touch with this outfit, and the only name I recognize in the hierarchy is Kirby Ikin. I always liked Kirby, and it’s comforting to see that he’s still in the game.
