This implies that it hasn’t happened, it is happening now.
“Like every cultural revolution, the ideological zeal of America’s radicals should eventually subside and fizzle. ”
When and where has this happened before with Marxists? When Year Zero and the Great Leap Forward came to an end, they weren’t with a fizzle.
Progressive Marxists wont go away on their own and no one can say what sort of dystopia they will create. Waiting for the storm to pass isn’t an option because it isnt a random act of nature but the deliberate actions of human beings with their own goals and objectives and must be countered in the same way.

Well we have the early twentieth century example of the disintegration of the Weimar Republic as one reference. There it was Communist Marxists vs National Socialists.
Unfortunately hyperinflation made the status quo of the Federated German Republics untenable. In the end having only those two choices didn’t go so well either.
It would be interesting to speculate what Germany would have been like had the Marxists taken control. Unlikely to maintain control w/o the co-operation of the entrenched industrialists, either they would’ve been forced into a coalition government or brought in Russian ‘activists’ to conduct targeted assassinations? Coalition with whom tho? Ernst Fromm? Seems unlikely.
Ernst Röhm, my bad.
The cool thing about history is that everyone can learn from it, but that means the commies can too. The new model is China. Cuba is adopting a China, which is an improvement for them but as the Democrats implement the Chinese model, it is a regression for us but not likely to end in most people eating dirt.
Hmm. The Allies would have been wiser to leave the aristocrats and capitalists in charge rather than let Germany fall apart. I wonder if this was why Hirohito was allowed to keep his job after Round 2.
I get your point, but Hirohito’s golden parachute was courtesy of the fact that none of his armies had ever formally surrendered to that point–they always fought to the death, even if some individual soldiers did surrender. It was believed that nobody else could order the officers to surrender their units en masse and have any hope of that order being obeyed. It made him somewhat indispensable.
Make sure they are the ones with most of the scars.
State Department: “If the Houthis are serious about a negotiated political solution, they must cease all military advances”
“These young men and women stand ready ”

I feel reassured. I had been worried the Biden administration would not be as funny as the Trump administration.
