I’m pessimistic. I hope I am wrong. But since nothing substantial has changed in the mechanics of how Georgia does its elections, I don’t expect a different result. I expect a Democrat sweep by 1000 votes in 3 weeks and after a dozen suitcases of found ballots and 16′ of unbroken water pipes. Or maybe gas this time. Whatever it will be it will no doubt effect the surveillance cams this time, so electrical blackout maybe?

A friend of mine early in my adulthood was strongly into politics and thought he leaned ‘R’, he often voted to maintain gridlock at the state level. There were certain ‘D’ policies that benefited his business besides.
After seeing some of the bone-headed things the Republicans have done with a trifecta at the state level recently, it wasn’t too difficult to recall that conversation and understand the sentiment.
Unfortunately for my ballot, there wasn’t even a choice at the state level to vote for gridlock (inasmuch as all of the candidates were unopposed), so I just did what I could and went back about my business.
People will still be people and vote one race or the other, or over-vote, or put in write-ins, or leave ballots blank… It won’t be 100% matching vote counts for both candidates.
Anyone foolish enough to write in Trump for either or both Senate offices “to make a statement” are shooting themselves in the foot. Or both feet. With a shotgun.
Boy am I tired of all this winning we were promised. What the saying laying down with dogs get up with fleas?

Long term, I think Trump’s assault on the Constitution and is a bigger issue, and I thought Trump should have been impeached, but I was very upset about the timing. I felt that January and February were a time to prepare for war against SARS-CoV-2. Shame on the Democrats for distracting Trump, but shame on Trump for the many many incompetent super-spreading months which have followed.

I’m not too surprised at the potential outcome here. The original vote was close enough for a run off and I wouldn’t be surprised if Democrats spent as much money as they did on the Presidential election. The media wouldn’t report on the crazy views of the Democrat candidates. To top it off, the state was firing elections whistleblowers and didn’t make any changes to ensure the validity of the vote.
I think the spending was on the order of $800 M in the 8 weeks between the General and the Runoff. I haven’t cared enough to look to see how that broke down between the parties and PACs, but almost a billion dollars on these two seats feels insane to me, and I live in a swing state, where ad spending is already atrocious.
Well if the Dems control the Senate – as it looks like it might be the case – then they control 2 of the 3 branches of government.
And that means we are in Big Trouble.
Look for more widespread forced wokeness, stupid spending on the order of Trillions along with the associated graft, economy-choking rules and regs, and deeper control by China, Soros, and Big Tech.

I haven’t been commenting here this year, but I was completely against the Black Lives Matter peaceful marches, so you can be sure I was against any looting! I strongly believe in the Black Lives Matter movement, but we are in the midst of a pandemic, and I thought any large gathering in person, with or without masks, indoors or outside, was a pretty irresponsible thing to do. We can debate the nuances of BLM (for example, I’m strongly pro-police, but like everyone of conscience, I want bad police to be flushed out of the ranks, and I believe in systematic racism on the police force) but I think a BLM debate is off-topic.

Nothing like what you are describing above occurred. The secretary and his team took pains they took to ensure that the election was fair, and they patiently explained why the President’s claims were incorrect.

In any case, do you think Trump supporter Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger is trying to cheat or otherwise commit election fraud? Do you think the judges across the country who dismissed the Trump campaign’s 60 post-election lawsuits were trying to cheat? It isn’t the job of either political party to convince the voters that the election was fair (no one with doubts would believe them). Instead, reassuring the voters is the job of the election officials, who are presumably committed to a fair election and can explain the safeguards put in place to ensure one. And failing that, the courts should step in. That’s what has happened – all the officials & judges involved have weighed in and said that there is no credible evidence of fraud. The fact that you don’t trust them is troubling, but I can’t believe that anything the Democratic party could say would change your mind.

Nearly all the lawsuits were dismissed because they came too late, too early, lacked standing, or some other process reason rather than an examination of the evidence.
The problem is that once tainted votes are introduced into the population, they can’t be sifted and removed even if election fraud is proved. The remedy is to nullify an election, something judges don’t want to get involved in. There is no way to audit the vote, only the process and the evidence shows the process was abused.
Republicans have been pushing for voting integrity for a long time because Democrats have a history going back to the 1800’s of cheating. That’s why we have things like election observers. Democrats have been pushing to remove all safeguards from our elections. They don’t care about legitimacy because they think the existence of our country is illegitimate. Just like Trump was justification to suspend normal rules of conduct, they view gaining power to remake society the same way.

We all saw the video of observers being kicked out to cheers, of windows being covered, and election workers wearing BLM clothes. Those are not the signs of an honest election nor is it when Abrams goes on TV bragging about removing signature validation.
Last July, in Georgia, an election worker was arrested for rigging the vote in a primary. He scanned in fake ballots and then certified the results. He did it for a Democrat in a Democrat primary. You guys cheat in your own primaries, another example Bernie Sanders, and we are supposed to believe you don’t cheat in the general election?
You can look at it like the Democrat’s riots and protests over the last year. They think they are protesting systemic racism. A Republican can look at the data and disagree with them, can offer solutions to solve many of the problems, and support their right to protest.
Shouldn’t Democrats look at this similarly?
Many Republicans believe that there was election fraud. Most, but not all, Democrats disagree but shouldn’t they support the right to protest, offer solutions, or engage in good faith efforts reform the system? Shouldn’t Democrats compromise and work together with Republicans to deal with the issue?
Many demands are made of Republicans but Democrats are never expected to act the same way.
