That’s awesome. If not for political overreach on the pandemic, 2020 would be remembered as remarkable year for human achievement. As it is/was, it was personally a very good year for me. The video is a good laugh made by people of good cheer.
Given that 2020 ushered in American Fascism it’s hardly a “remarkable year of human achievement.”
Written without evidence.
Ignoring evidence is not the same as no evidence.
Indeed, but you can’t ignore evidence not presented, so not presenting evidence is just lazy and boring. We can troll this out with more sock puppets, but the year is drawing short and to repeat, this is boring.
You’re not becoming a robophobe are you now? 😉
Even more amazing when you realize this is not Hollywood CGI. Imagine these and in-orbit construction.
I for one welcome our new dancing robotic overloads, and I would like to remind them as a electrical engineer I can be helpful in targeting others to toil in their sand smelting plants.
I wonder if the apocalypse pushers will one day see the light or if they will use these amazing technological advances to hide from humanity that it is the best time to be a human ever.
I wasn’t referencing Rand’s comment but rather those who think the world is ending and that we would be better off as subsistance farmers or hunter gatherers without the hunting.
People who think humanity is a plague shouldn’t have any control over robots or humans.
Robots don’t frighten me. Who controls them gives me concern.
hmmm Can I rent one to take my wife dancing while I sit at the bar?
Sure you can, but you might not like what else it does with her after the dance while you’re still sitting at the bar.
For anyone here who “doesn’t do video” you should make an exception, that really is astounding. I mean yeah, the movie Transformers is 15 years old, but here BD is doing a reasonable facsimile with no special effects at all.
I, for one, welcome our new robot overlords!
I love all the Boston Dynamics videos. They are impressive, state of the art, and fun to watch. But whenever I see one I always think about all the hundreds of hours of tedious programming that probably went into making it do these things. I will be really impressed when a robot can learn the foxtrot at a Fred Astaire Dance Studio.
Thinking about this, I have come to the point of view that these robots are pretty good dancers in considering how our expectations for biped dancing robots are pretty low.
Kind of like watching your pre-teen daughter with her friends at their dance recital?
The day they come up with a Berry Gordy robot – one who can create what Berry Gordy created, including this song – is when it’s time to worry. In the meantime, the really scary things about 2020 are on their way out – the virus, and the virus of a president.
They are celebrating given that Hyundai has made them billionaires.
Admit it. This is a remarkable engineering accomplishment.
No question about that. But it’s a very portentous technology.
Skynet smiles.
Skynet? Pshaw!
USAF literally has an unmanned combat vehicle project called “Skyborg”.
Well, then the Navy needs one named Seaborg, and test it at Berkley.
Its address would be:
Seaborgium, Lawrencium, Berkelium, Californium, Americium.
Is the continent, Transurania?
The Russians already have an answer:

Or maybe this man’s daughter and her friends?
