I’m sort of on vacation this week. I gave a talk in Omaha on Friday as part of a space panel with General Kwast and Joel Sercel, on the economics of space, to a Free Market Forum sponsored by Hillsdale College. It seemed to go well, and seemed to be an eye opener for many in the audience, so it was great to preach to someone other than the choir.
We’re in Michigan now, visiting family and checking out the fall colors for the first time in a long time. Unfortunately, I’m also boning up for my deposition next week in DC by Mann’s lawyer. So I’ll keep an eye on things, and post if something noteworthy happens, but consider this an open thread for now.
Hey Rand, while you are in Michigan, can you see how many Trump signs, and how many Biden signs there are? Like, who has the most signs? While you are there, talk to your friends, and family members that live there. Ask them who they think will win in Michigan.
I’ve been amusing myself by perusing the comments at the two ArsTechnica pieces on the Facebook/Twitter censoring. Obviously it’s a rats nest of OrangeManBad but there’s not much love over there for social media either, particularly FB (what they’re doing with Oculus has been particularly inflaming). At times it looks like what you’d expect in a kindergarten class where the teacher was attempting to explain the meaning of “circular firing squad” and just decided to demonstrate how to make spit wads, hand out a bunch of empty bic pen casings and let the kids conduct their own experiment.

Make sure to get some good rest after the work is done.
Ted Wheeler just voted for Trump, whether he wanted to or not:

From what I was reading, identity still has to be verified but it was unknown if changing a vote this way canceled out a vote already cast.
Animaniacs revival starts next month.

NASA announced new contract awards a few days ago. One is for a 4g network on the Moon. It looks like Starship is still half a decade out from doing missions to Mars, meaning there is still plenty of time for these prospecting missions to bear fruit without being cannibalized.

Best wishes on the deposition. Let your lawyer have first crack at any question from Mann’s side, and only if YOUR lawyer asks you for information to clarify the answer on your behalf, do you speak.
So, Mann’s guy: “Do you believe in Santa Claus?”
Your guy: “Irrelevant!”
Mann’s guy: “I want to hear it from Mr Simberg.”
(your guy nods) Rand: “That’s irrelevant.”
Etc.
My lawyer is not allowed to speak on my behalf. I am the deponent. He can only object.
