Blue City councilors ought to be shown films of the Tokyo or Dresden examples. Firestorms are a real thing. Well you gotta start over one way or another. I hope folks can stay ahead of the flame front.
Some of the protests could easily cross that line, and many are so radical that they would block the firetrucks as the inferno spread.
Wasn’t it a week ago when the outrage was some young black girl was getting beat up by a group of other black girls and people were outraged because there were cops just sitting there watching? Then more video came out and it showed a massive group of black adults form up and attack the cops as they tried to respond.
There are other recent examples of the “protesters” attacking or preventing emergency services from responding to emergencies.
I’ve been wondering how long it would take until some of these mayors realized whose supply of revenue was being severed here.
They will – and have – asked he Feds to make up the shortfall
And so far, their requests have been denied. May that always be the case. This damage isn’t the result of a natural disaster. It’s the result of craven political calculation and incompetence.
It’s worth bearing in mind that these cities will be (some already have) asking federal taxpayers to foot the bill for their malignant idiocy.
Trump, however, nixed the request so far, such as turning down Minneapolis when they asked for 500 million. He didn’t counter offer, he just said no.
I’m not a Trump fan, and I have major issues with him (including his own reluctance to crush the riots – the supremely tight rules of engagement I’m seeing in Portland are a disgrace), but I can’t applaud this move enough.
At this juncture, though there’s much I don’t like about Trump, if I have to walk into a COVID-19 ward to pull the handle for him, I shall do so.
All you have to do is walk to the mailbox and hope the postal worker’s union, that endorsed Biden, delivers your ballot.
Um, yeah, that’s so reassuring. I think I prefer a polling station on a COVID ward to that… 🙂
After they “correct” your ballot I’m sure it will be.
Dateline 2021: President Biden dismisses conspiracy theories of bitter Republicans claiming that 150% new voters in Democrat majority precincts and a 50% drop in voters in historical Republican majority precincts is suspicious…

While the President could invoke the 1807 insurrection act and send in the troops without local/state government permission normally said local/state governments are expected to request said assistance. I don’t give them a pass for refusing and don’t blame Trump for not wanting to send troops unless they request such. Primary responsibility for securing local lives and property rests with said local governments not the feds (Trump).
It doesn’t get more real than Chicago. A ray of hope:

Stay with it all the way to the end, where a 51 year resident of Englewood spells it out about agitators, cops and the community.
