There was a report in a British newspaper last week that it was largely due to the number of ‘refugees’ and ‘migrants’ working there who quickly spread the disease due to their living conditions.
But, yes, it threatens to seriously break food supply chains in the next few weeks. On the plus side, much of the pork was going to China last year, so maybe they’ll be the ones who go hungry.

If the vice presidency becomes vacant (either through the death of the Pence or through Pence’s assumption of the presidency following Trump’s death), and the president nominates a new VP, that nominee must be confirmed by *both* houses of congress.
This was news to me as I didn’t know my 25A until recently and had assumed that the nominee would only need to be confirmed by the Senate, as with most appointments needing confirmation.
Were it to come to this, I’d expect the House to just sit on any nomination, keeping Ms. Pelosi in her next-in-line position.
