Tough to say. We have protests in the USA all the time and they are not representative of public opinion. Iran has done so much worse then shooting down a passenger plane, I don’t know why this would be the tipping point.
We have protests in the USA all the time…but we don’t kill 1,500 of the protesters, and still continue to have protests.
These people are fed up, and desperate.
I mentioned under the “Iran Options” discussion that VDH was wrong about the option for Iran to negotiate with Trump. Here’s a Trump tweet from yesterday:
National Security Adviser suggested today that sanctions & protests have Iran “choked off”, will force them to negotiate. Actually, I couldn’t care less if they negotiate. Will be totally up to them but, no nuclear weapons and “don’t kill your protesters.”
What else does Iran have to offer? The only other negotiation tool they had was terrorism, which is why killing Soleimani was good for America and the region.
To answer the question:
More fragile than we know.
Less fragile than we hope.
