Just Take The Vote

Ford’s story is falling apart, and she is bereft of credibility at this point.

She was not well served by the Democrats, but Democrats never treat people well. They threw her into the breach, and I’m sure they consider her expendable.

[Late-morning update]

How bad has the media bias been? So bad that even Morning Joe is calling them out on it.

[Update early afternoon]

Jonah Goldberg: You idiot reporters are making it worse. Or better, depending on your point of view. If this results in a red wave, I’ll thank them.

  1. First, I am shocked that USA Today actually posted a piece like this.

As for Ford, her story never really held up to the ‘sniff test’. She was very vague in many aspects, but so hyper sure about one thing – Kavanaugh. This alone is suspicious. Factor in the issues listed in this article and her story looks less and less believable.

Finally, there is a story that Ford was lying during her testimony under oath about (a) helping someone with a polygraph, (b) being afraid of flying, and (c) being claustrophobic. Also, she never mentioned that she had been the victim of any type of assault, much less Kavanaugh’s name. This story came directly from her ex-boyfriend of 6 years.

    1. Fake crying is all any rational person should need to see in order to tell she was lying. She didn’t even pretend to use a tissue.

  2. https://pjmedia.com/video/hillary-clinton-says-kavanaugh-self-defense-is-a-denial-of-the-legitimacy-of-womens-stories/

Did you know that Hillary Clinton is complaining that Brett Kavanaugh’s is denying the legitimacy of women’s stories?

Is this an example of irony? Of a profound deficit in self awareness? Of the onset of neurological disease with aging? The effect on memory of long-term alcohol or marijuana use? Or simply how Ms. Clinton talks on days that end in the letter “Y”?

    1. Next she will say that drinking disqualifies him from one of the most powerful positions in government, lmao.

  3. “Drag a Go-FundMe account through Grievance Studies Departments and who knows what you’ll find.”

  4. “You Idiot Reporters Are Making It Worse”

“Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake” – Napoleon Bonaparte

Shows you Goldberg’s ulterior motives, doesn’t it? Rand you called it correctly – and Jonah really isn’t in it for conservative principles.

  5. Yes, Donald Trump has done the country a disservice by how he talks about the press. But so have you, because you have made it so easy for him — and you’re making it worse right now.

Goldberg has to engage in some whataboutism to keep his elite street cred.

Trump is merely stating the truth about the media that acts as the PR wing of the Democrat party. This isn’t a new development for the media, they have been this way a long time. It isn’t a disservice mentioning it, it a disservice not mentioning it.

The media as it exists today, is an enemy of the people. It doesn’t speak truth to power. It doesn’t inform or search for truth. Its just yellow journalism that carefully crafts deceits in order to advance progressive ideology and protect the Democrat party.

This is another article where Goldberg gets a little closer to opening his eyes, so good on him. He should be really happy when Nikki Haley runs on a second Trump presidency in 2024.

  6. I’ve spent much of the last couple of years decrying the increasing partisan tribalism of our politics. I’ve earned some strange new respect from liberals

“Strange”. Jonah’s puzzled by media tribalism. Film at 11.

A case in point: I don’t like President Trump’s “enemy of the people” rhetoric about the “fake news.” I don’t think it’s true or helpful or presidential. “Enemy of the people” is a totalitarian and authoritarian term of art unfit for our country or our president, and employing it gives license to the press to indulge its worst instincts.

Good fu**ing gawd what an air-headed word salad. Trump’s saying something that isn’t helpful or presidential, someone should be cross with him, and since no one is being helpful by doing so I guess your humble correspondent will have to step up. And… something…something…totalitarian…authoritarian…something. Which licenses the media to indulge its worst instincts.

    Where’s my barf bag.

I’m not criticizing the Democrats themselves — though I obviously could — I’m criticizing the people who interview these senators.

I obviously could, but as I stated above, there’s this strange new respect thingy, so instead I’m going to criticize
the people who interview them. There. I think I threaded that needle pretty good!

Barf bag is full, but it wouldn’t really help with these dry heaves anyway.

    1. The enemy of the people canard again? What Trump said at a rally is that the Press sees his followers as the enemy. Then the Press claimed he said that Trump called the Press the enemy, which is not the same thing. Indeed what the Press did there goes along way to making Trump’s point. And I haven’t seen the Press try to reach Trump supporters in a fair way.

That Jonah continues the charade reflects poorly on him.

      1. What Trump said at a rally is that the Press sees his followers as the enemy.

Indeed. The Left can’t understand why Trump is so popular — it’s because Trump is all that stands between the people who voted for Trump and the people who hate the people who voted for Trump.

  7. He was CLASSIC DARVO ..LOL

    “hort Definition of DARVO

DARVO refers to a reaction perpetrators of wrong doing, particularly sexual offenders, may display in response to being held accountable for their behavior. DARVO stands for “Deny, Attack, and Reverse Victim and Offender.” The perpetrator or offender may Deny the behavior, Attack the individual doing the confronting, and Reverse the roles of Victim and Offender such that the perpetrator assumes the victim role and turns the true victim — or the whistle blower — into an alleged offender. This occurs, for instance, when an actually guilty perpetrator assumes the role of “falsely accused” and attacks the accuser’s credibility and blames the accuser of being the perpetrator of a false accusation.

In a 2017 peer-reviewed open-access research study, Perpetrator Responses to Victim Confrontation: DARVO and Victim Self-Blame, Harsey, Zurbriggen, & Freyd reported that: “(1) DARVO was commonly used by individuals who were confronted; (2) women were more likely to be exposed to DARVO than men during confrontations; (3) the three components of DARVO were positively correlated, supporting the theoretical construction of DARVO; and (4) higher levels of exposure to DARVO during a confrontation were associated with increased perceptions of self-blame among the confronters. These results provide evidence for the existence of DARVO as a perpetrator strategy and establish a relationship between DARVO exposure and feelings of self-blame. Exploring DARVO aids in understanding how perpetrators are able to enforce victims’ silence through the mechanism of self-blame.””

    1. Kavanaugh did not attack Ford. He attacked the people responsible for the false accusations or rape, gang rape, and sexual assault, the Democrats. The Democrats didn’t just victimize Kavanaguh but his wife, young daughters, and even slut shamed a female highschool classmate of his. What a way to show women how much you totally care about them.

Aside from the individual victimization, Democrats also victimized our country by turning the confirmation process into a clown show of paid protesters and the attempt of a political assassination that has no precedent for how unethical it is in modern American history. They also victimized the legitimacy of SCOTUS itself.

People aren’t supposed to be upset by this? Showing emotion invalidates any reaction to the false accusations? I’ve said this before but it is just a Kafka trap. Throw him in the river and if he floats, he is guilty and if he sinks, he is innocent.

      1. “Only a guilty man could be so stoic in the face of false accusations! If he were really being falsely accused, he’d be angry!” etc.

  8. Re “enemy of the people”:

These days, journalists come out of journalism school, a sect of “higher” “education” where other j-school graduates who couldn’t find actual work in journalism tell them how to do the job they themselves have never done.

They display their contempt for the people they claim to serve, and wonder why they lose those people’s respect. They side with a class tribe that regards the people as their enemy, then bridle at being called themselves “enemies of the people.”

  9. Yes it’s time for Mitch to whip the votes and take the vote. Get this done.

I’ve had my doubts over McConnell over the years but he seems to be rock solid when it comes to confirming judges.

If he pulls this one off, the chances of a red wave in November increase.

  10. A couple days ago, Democrats were making fun of Kavanaugh for how often he said he drinks beer, like beer, beer beer beer. Drinking beer, like the poors, makes him unsuited to be on SCOTUS.

Today, Democrats are saying Kavanaugh wasn’t truthful about how much he liked to drink beer. Had he only said he liked to drink beer, sometimes to excess, one more time, he could have been truthful.

These are the same people who said Trump was unsuited for President because he didn’t drink alcohol.

    1. “These are the same people who said Trump was unsuited for President because he didn’t drink alcohol.”

Those people are unsuited to live in the world of adults

    2. This is a very old story about how evil people treat others.

John the baptist was criticized for never drinking wine and Jesus was criticized for drinking wine.

  11. WTF:

BREAKING: Montana Republican Senator Steve Daines says he needs to be in Montana this weekend for his daughter’s wedding, throwing Saturday’s confirmation vote on Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh in doubt

Just what *IS* it with these people?

    1. What it “IS” with these people is that in a Deficit Busting measure, Congress got rid of the system of buying the vote of a Senator with a major Federal program in their state or that of a Member of Congress with a dam.

Back in the day, someone like Majority Leader McConnell could say, “Nice Federal office building going into your state, Senator, too bad if anything were to happen to it!” Those days are gone, there is no Party loyalty, and every Senator gets to call attention to themselves.

      1. “Those days are gone, there is no Party loyalty, and every Senator gets to call attention to themselves.”

Are you suggesting there ever was party loyalty? Because if you are then this statement:

“Back in the day, someone like Majority Leader McConnell could say, “Nice Federal office building going into your state, Senator, too bad if anything were to happen to it!” ”

        …contradicts that

        1. Loyalty can be bought and it was bought. Party leaders had both carrots and sticks to keep their troops marching in step.

I think the word I was searching for was “earmarks.” Between Mr. Obama’s New Politics where he scolded against business as usual, and the Tea Party, which arose in reaction to Mr. Obama having a scorched-earth politics, the earmarks went out. Each member of Congress because a prima donna, a diva, or at least a difficult person because they incentives toward party loyalty are now gone.

          1. No: real loyalty cannot be bought.

You should use another term, though I think I understand what you are saying.

          2. Rand is right: the loyalty should be to the Constitution. They took an oath to preserve, protect and defend it.

  12. “She was not well served by the Democrats, but Democrats never treat people well. They threw her into the breach, and I’m sure they consider her expendable.”

There is a photo on the satiric IMAO blog showing the rear view of a moving car; the car’s door is open and someone is falling out of the back onto a highway. The car is captioned “Democratic Party;” the person falling or being thrown out of the back seat is captioned, “Christine Blasey Ford after the Democrats no longer need her.”

As Sam Levenson used to say, “It’s funny because it’s true!”
