I scored a ticket to the VIP gala at KSC Saturday night, to celebrate the 49th anniversary of the first moon landing. I just found out I’ll be seated at a front table with commercial-spaceflight basher Walt Cunningham.

Thanks for your sacrifice, Rand.
They still exist after the asteroid, I mean SpaceX rocket stages, landed at KSC, marking NASA extinction?
Ask him the status on Boeing’s liquid fly back booster design for the Shuttle Program.
Awesome! Don’t take any crap. Give him a copy of your book, ask if he’d like it autographed.
Don’t have any with me, unfortunately.
Can’t overnight a copy via Amazon?
I suppose I could, but it would annoy me to pay list price.
We’re not all laughing with you. Figure it out.
If you intended to write an intelligent or relevant comment, you seem to have failed.
Nice that you are there for that event. I’ll have to arrange that for myself for the 50th!
Commercial spaceflight basher? I am not familiar with the Cunningham story. So I did some googling to try and find it. So far I’m not finding much in support, and I found this story which seems contradictory…

… there is much more to this astonishing article about Apollo Astronauts and SpaceX, including Cernan’s retraction of his SpaceX criticism.
Just don’t end up with a bloody nose….
Happy Moon Day!
Have fun at the KSC event, although to me a bunch of guys sitting around chatting about how awesome things were decades ago sounds boring as crap. I’ll be focused on the present and future of spaceflight at Moon Day in Dallas, including doing a presentation on cislunar space.
FWIW, Walt did emcee the second ARISS Uplink we had a couple of years ago at Moon Day. Generally, though, he has steered clear of the event even though FoFM has his Apollo 7 capsule and Moon Rock on display.
