If aging is related to accumulation of damage to mitochondrial DNA, then refreshing the body’s mitochondria with “young” ones could be a treatment. It’s amazing that just adding the things to the blood causes them to go to the right places in cells.
The mitochondrial genome is short enough that it could be reasonable to think about building it from scratch.
