New Leadership At NASA

Apparently it’s going to be Jim Bridenstine as administrator, and former Chief of Staff John Schumacher as his Deputy. This is much better news than if Lightfoot had been given the job. Bridenstine told me in February that he had read my book. He will continue to pay lip service to SLS as long as seems politically necessary, but I think he knows what a programmatic disaster it is.

  1. If he becomes head of NASA, is there away for me to email him at NASA? I emailed him last year. I told him that NASA should purchase launch flights to the Moon, and rent base facilities on the Moon. I didn’t email him. It was one of his staff members. I also mentioned that there should be prizes.
Here is part of the email about prizes.

“If a company lands 3 people on the Moon, and have them stay for 2 weeks, and repeat the mission, with the same spacecraft, then that company would get a prize of $3 billion. There would also be larger prizes for Mars, and beyond.”

I then mentioned that DARPA should offer prizes for launching a SSTO spacecraft. This is what I mentioned about prizes for SSTO.

“I also think that perhaps DARPA should offer prizes. I think that DARPA should try to bring back the DC-X program. It started in the early 90s, and was later given over to NASA. They later on dropped DC-X, and then started on to Venture Star. What DARPA should do, is to offer a prize. DARPA should offer a prize of $1 billion, to the first company that launches a Single Stage to Orbit spacecraft. An SSTO spacecraft takes off, and lands in one piece. It drops off no boosters, or fuel tanks.”
