  1. There is no solution within the system so it will not be fixed. 50s pulp SF knew the solution to be a reset.

  2. A necessary condition for becoming a successful fundraiser from whatever interest you “oversee” or “regulate” is establishing the ability to harm that interest unless it pays protection money. Isn’t that extortion? Why, yes, yes it is.

I heard today that a prominent Republican donor is filing suit against the Republican Party for fraud. His complaint alleges that the party took his money under false pretenses. He had donated only when promised that the party would repeal Obamacare and overhaul the tax code. Every Republican who ran (including McCain) did so vowing to repeal Obamacare and lower taxes. We see how that’s gone. So in addition to being extortionists, they’re also con men.

Oh, yes, and they buy votes by promising to take money away from people who don’t vote for them, and give it to people who do. Bribery, and armed robbery.

    What a system!

  3. The emergence of 2 dominant parties is a direct reaction to first-past-the-post elections. Even a partial bug patch for deficiencies of that election method. A better system, like some form of rank or instant runoff voting, would allow minor parties and candidates to better compete on their merits. But getting a better election system adopted will be an uphill battle.
