Really, “male” “feminist” gamers. They keep using those words together. I’m not sure they mean what they think they mean.

The Venn diagram with metrosexuals is a circle.
Indeed. They might identify as “male”, but they’re not male.
I read “beta males trying to get laid”.
More like gammas. Betas have too much self-respect and testosterone.
Here’s what the dictionary says:
fem·i·nist
noun
a person who supports feminism.
fem·i·nism
noun
the advocacy of women’s rights on the basis of the equality of the sexes.
What’s the problem?
The problem is that what the dictionary says doesn’t correspond to social reality…
At least one hundred times (and perhaps many more) on this blog you’ve criticized the way the word “liberal” is used. I gather you believe that when discussing American politics, people ought to conform to the definition found in the dictionary or, even better, for more precision, an encyclopedia. Don’t you believe people ought to conform to the dictionary or enclyclopedia meaning for both the word “feminist” and the word “liberal”?
Here are the first paragraphs of two wikipedia entries.
Liberalism is a political philosophy or worldview founded on ideas of liberty and equality.[1][2][3] Liberals espouse a wide array of views depending on their understanding of these principles, but generally they support ideas and programmes such as freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of religion, free markets, civil rights, democratic societies, secular governments, gender equality, and international cooperation.[4][5][6][7][8][9][10]
Feminism is a range of political movements, ideologies, and social movements that share a common goal: to define, establish, and achieve political, economic, personal, and social rights for women.[1][2] This includes seeking to establish educational and professional opportunities for women that are equal to such opportunities for men.
They both sound good to me!
“They both sound good to me!”
Sure does… except “Talk is Cheap.”
Their actions don’t correlate with those stated goals.
The modern political movement that calls itself “Liberals” are all Marxist that actively work to reduce Freedom of Speech and Press, distain Christianity and Judaism, while working to destroy free markets and elevate some groups (based on race or sex) above others.
Feminism has been taken over by these same leftist. This original goals where won long ago so now they seek to dominate and to use their political power to advance their above stated “liberal” cause. These people have become the fascist they project onto their enemy.
So they say they want freedom but they want to force these game designer to draw woman in puritan ways. They don’t even care about the game of what the characters do, they just want to dominate people and an industry they can’t control.
“So they say they want freedom but they want to force these game designer to draw woman in puritan ways. They don’t even care about the game of what the characters do, they just want to dominate people and an industry they can’t control.”
Don’t forget that we live in a “I’m a victim boo-hoo” culture.
Instead of gaining notariety by achieving, lots of people go the victim route.
Hilarious, isn’t it? Today’s ‘liberals’ are the modern equivalent of the ‘square’ 1950s parents telling their kids they can’t go to that awful rock and roll show.
And they wonder why they’re losing.
I self-identify as dictionary feminist.
I’ll use a feminist argument to debunk this. 🙂
The problem is that ‘feminist’ itself is specious because ‘fem’-inist has the word female in it. So the concept starts bad and gets worse from there.
I also personally think that equal rights are a stupid idea given that the sexes aren’t equal to begin with. If you think procreation of the species isn’t important you got another thing coming. The idea itself is ok as a general principle, but it can’t be applied willy nilly IMHO.
Feminism may have started out with good intentions, but now it’s just Marxism with a fat, ugly, cat-lady face.
How dare you use reason and common sense when it comes to gender politics!!
I honestly don’t know what you are talking about. I’m tentatively guessing you are saying that husbands shouldn’t be stay-at-home dads while their wives go to work as engineers, or something like that, but I’m really not sure.
I was replying to Godzilla.
I don’t know many progressives that would stand for a stay at home dad. My experience has been they mock those people and the working females involved are highly resentful of their partners.
I know some non-progressives who live this lifestyle and it is a far different attitude for the people involved.
Did you just assume the gender of the word feminism?
“What’s the problem?”
In addition to what Rand said, which is the major answer to your question, there’s the lesser evil – though evil nonetheless – that “feminist” and “feminists” usage further widens the divide and exacerbates the problem. It creates a “them” vs “us” when there should be only an “us”.
PEOPLE should be paid the same wage for precisely the same job and who have precisely the same experience and skills.
However feminism demands that some people are more equal than others and should get more pay for less work.
Apparently profit isn’t motivating because if feminism is right, would anybody hire the more expensive employee?
Social justice is not equal justice. “Getting even” with men is not feminism, and that is what you are seeing. It’s a power struggle between the liberal West and Marxism.
Bob-1, you clearly know nothing about modern day feminism or the base of the Democrat party.

What’s the problem?
Rights have absolutely nothing to do with gender. …or any other identity politics.
Feminists are ignorant…maybe willfully so, I cannot say. They don’t Vive la differance! They are ignorant of art history as well. The Greeks, for example, carved statues showing the ideal. In fact art for the most part used to uplift the ideal. In the past, the idea wasn’t considered a trigger for depression and whining – it was something to aspire to, to the best of your ability. It showed youwhat the ideal was.
And this is part and parcel of “everyone gets a trophy”: they cannot stand the idea that there IS an ideal, that they don’t meet the ideal and that some people do.
I don’t look like a Greek statue – so what? It doesn’t anger or depress me (binging on Oreos does sort of depress me though 😉 )
I don’t play those games but I see why they portray the men and women the way they do. The female characters in the game represent the Western ideal for women – men for the ideal man.
Speaking of how art used to uplift the ideal, and how far it has fallen in 100 years, this video is interesting. Most modern art really is worthless, and nobody should ever be intimidated by the BS that artists and their handlers spew to support their work.

That is a very interesting video. Thanks for posting the link
I think you make a great point about art. (I’m presuming that Rand was making a different point about words and their definitions and what it would mean to be a male feminist.)
But how does the ideal male or female warrior wear clothing? If armor is called for, the ideal warrior isn’t going to be stupid about what body parts to cover up and what body parts to leave bare. And regardless of armor, the ideal fighter isn’t going to fight a battle looking like a greek statue. I’m not a classicist, so feel free to educate me, but the nude greek statues generally depicted people doing sports in the gymnasium, right? And that’s a place where nudity is called for:
The word gymnasium is the latinisation of the Greek noun γυμνάσιον (gymnasion), “gymnastic school”, in pl. “bodily exercises” and generally “school”[2] which in turn is derived from the common Greek adjective γυμνός (gymnos) meaning “naked”,[3] by way of the related verb γυμνάζω (gymnazo), whose meaning is “to train naked”, “train in gymnastic exercise”, generally “to train, to exercise”.[4] The verb had this meaning because one undressed for exercise.
But the video games in question don’t depict sports, they depict a life-and-death battles where it would be silly to leave your dangling bits hanging out, right? (I’m not a gamer either, so again feel free to educate me.)
Video games are not realistic. It’s called having fun. Gamers play video games because it is fun. Sometimes that fun is enhanced by realism usually it isn’t. What we are seeing here has nothing to do with realism or feminism or even games. What happened is that the left controls 99% of all old modes of entertainment (Movie, Music, TV, Newspaper, Literature, and Magazine) But they ignored and made fun of the newest form, video games… so the people that are board with the same old anti-western culture, pro marxist stories are now flooding this new market with their money. What we are seeing here is those leftist trying to different methods to see how much control authority they can gain without actually learning how to make good games. What they don’t understand is that most video games are antithetical to Marxism. The game doesn’t care how rich you are, or what color you are, or what is in your pants, it only cares if you have the skill to finish the level. It is the old debate between equality of results vs equality of opportunity. The game gives the ultimate equality of opportunity and isn’t much of a game if it gives users equality of results.
Video games are the ultimate meritocracy. Drives progressives crazy.
Also notice, none of these SJW are making their own games. They only use social bullying to get game makers to change their games.
Actually some of the SJW have tried to make games… they all fail because what makes a “good game” is so contrary to social justice. Like you said “the ultimate meritocracy” is totally opposite of what they want.
But the video games in question don’t depict sports, they depict a life-and-death battles
There are many different types of video games. Assuming you have the internet, you could google some or peruse the GooglePlay store. If you really want to play a game with a bunch of naked guys wrestling and throwing javelins, you can probably find one.
Sure the mailkini has long been a topic of conversation and so has armor with boobs but no armor in games is functional. Clothing in games has to look cool. And yes, men and women are portrayed physically unrepresentative of the population. But here again, it is about looking cool. Its escapism.
Our friends to the left don’t like escapism and instead prefer that fantasy take the form of social conditioning. No one likes their entertainment to turn into propaganda.
I don’t look like a Greek statue
Popping another internet illusion.
All my friends are gods! Any other suggestion is heresy.
Bayonetta…. What a great name for a female video game characters.
Hmm. Reminds me of some one… But who? OH YES of course!
ゴーゴー夕張
Ha! I penetrate you!
It many ways it can be quite surprising to see a group of obviously male gamers all feigning offense to the various sexy female character designs in video games because they think it’s how they’re supposed to react because of feminism—especially when female gamers fully embrace the aesthetic, sometimes even by cosplaying those characters in real life.
This is empowerment but it is sexist for anyone to notice.
It’s only empowerment if feminists say so.
They do say it is empowering but also that its sexist if anyone appreciates it.
Its the old have it both ways routine to disprove historical female stereotypes, “I want to look sexy but you are a misandrist if you think I am sexy.”
Manipulation is an art form primarily of girls. [At this point there is usually an evolution explanation.]
Asking questions that have no safe answer is the highest form of manipulation. Which is why my go to answer is, “no, you actually do have a big butt.”
