The “Democrats” and the “Republicans” are collections of “keys” — key supporters. “White working-class men” were once the backbone of the Democrat’s New Deal coalition, but they were taken for granted by the Democrats, perhaps because Republicans weren’t particularly attuned to their concerns, but that changed somewhat with Mr. Trump, but judging by the very reluctant support for Mr. Trump and by proxy his key supporters by our fine host Rand, it is not clear how this all will work out.
The Democrats may be counting on demographic shifts to further marginalize white working-class men as a voting block, but perhaps black working-class men, according to anecdotal observations, had a “hey, wait a minute!” moment regarding the Democrat’s coalition of the Extreme Fringes, or at least the coalition of old-age white women from Park Ridge, Illinois, where their speech pattern makes everything they say sound like a scolding?
But even among Rand’s Rascals, those of his otherwise loyal followers who are enthusiastic about Donald Trump, there are those who are quite Libertarian and maybe not aligned with the voting blocks the Democrats are ignoring? There are those who are skeptical of uni-sex bathrooms, concerned about de-facto open borders, worried about Globalization, but not ideologically pure enough to support outright repeal of the Affordable Care Act?
The Democratic Party is not over until it is over, especially if the Libertarian/Conservative/Republican/Right Blogosphere is not enthusiastic about the concerns about those the Democrats are abandoning.
Yes, the problem is that the Democrats haven’t fully expressed how contemptible and low brow they consider the public to be. If they could express their view more forcefully and condescendingly, the hoi polloi would have an epiphany, and immediately turn over control of their lives to the enlightened class.
Here’s how to connect with me, overlords: protect me from terrorists, invading armies and criminals; then leave me the @#$% alone.
In other words: protect me from bad guys; don’t BE a bad guy.
Personally, I think that the MSM hasn’t done enough to educate the public about the problems with the current administration and all of the issues where the GOP is flat out wrong.
Oh, and let’s not forget that Al Gore and his buddies need to remind everyone that all of us indignant commoners who use a combustion engine to get to work are killing the planet, causing world-wide flooding, and generally don’t believe in science (if only there were some sort of march to help that message get across).
And then a miracle occurred: before my very eyes, as I stood in the voting booth, the threadedness of my wingnut cap magically reversed. When I got home and went in the office, I looked up at the urn holding what’s left of my dad, and wondered what he’d make of it all. And I thought I heard him laugh.
Sorry, I forgot the most important weapon in the Democratic arsenal – Hollywood.
Seems like Hollywood hasn’t gotten the message that Trump and the GOP are bad, They make great movies and more importantly, award shows that relate directly to the general population and never think to talk down to the ‘lower folks’; Yes, Hollywood is a vast resource for the Democratic Party.
Do you want to rule? Do you see the problems in your country and know how to fix them? You need “Rules for Rulers”
