Yes, stop saying that, media idiots:
Will you people quit keeping a leaderboard? There are sick f***s watching you that take that as some sort of challenge as they update their .xls spreadsheets.
I have an idea. Let's not ban Muslims, and let's not ban guns. #CrazyIKnow

[Update a few minutes later]
I knew they were racists, but why do Democrats hate gay people so much they want to shoot up their nightclubs?
[Update a while later]
Log Cabin Republicans: The problem isn’t homophobia, or guns, but the homophobia of Islam. The Pink Pistols agree that it’s not about the guns. FWIW.
You’re wasting your time. Such media hyperbole lures in eyeballs and sells ads. It seems a bit like demanding that pimps stop being such sleezeballs. They’ll never change.
Moving on, this may well change some US attitudes about ISIS in the Middle East. It’s one thing to shoot California state employees or soldiers, it’s another to make night clubs not fun and then brag about it. That impacts a huge class of ostriches.
It seems a bit like demanding that pimps stop being such sleezeballs.
We aren’t allowed to say anything negative about the press anymore.
During the 6:00 hour this morning (PDT) I heard what sounded a lot like an official denial from multiple suspects of any connection to islamic terrorism. 2 hours later I was hearing that a connection to islamic terrorism was under investigation. Later I see word of the shooter pledging allegiance to ISIS shortly before the rampage.
And as expected, screeds against guns and homophobia are flying.
The shooter called 911 during the massacre, and pledged allegiance to Allah. He had been investigated twice by the FBI for terrorist connections, and was considered a “known wolf.” Just looking at his picture, you’d take him as dangerous.
But, hey, keep frisking those 80 year old white women in wheelchairs in the airport “security” line.
According to other news stories, he worked for a security company, so he could have been the one doing the frisking…
Its always good to wait until things settle down.
It’s way past time to ship all the goat-fuc#ing ragheads back to Crapholeistan.
I’m not sure how you distinguish which Muslims are “goat-fuc#ing ragheads” and which are not.
You can see the end game. A boy and his dog comes to mind… or any SF from the fifties really.
We can’t even manage “Start with the ones that have publicly sworn allegiance to foreign powers”.
The issue os swearing allegiance happens to be a hidden core of the larger immigration debate as well.
…How you distinguish which Muslims are [which?]
There used to be a thing called discernment which the FBI used during WW2 in conducting undercover investigations (back when the FBI consisted of patriots insured by investigating their own.)
Muslims are self identifying as to affiliation which makes it much easier than finding spies that generally don’t.
It really isn’t that hard if you’re not fighting a non-patriot media… which thinks due diligence is the same as racism.
You put one in a room with a goat and watch him for a while through a one-way mirror.
That seems quite labor intensive, for the goat, the goat f***er, and the watcher.
Require all goats to have seat belts and a radio transmitter. Whenever somebody clicks the belt the radio sends a message and ya got him!
On the other hand, a room with a goat and a room for the watchers is probably a thriving business model in some parts of the Middle East.
“There are two doors. The first costs…”
I wonder how the left will spin this attack?
My guess; they’ll take their lead from the mewling quisling-in-chief, and say we don’t know an exact motive yet, so it’s too early to say – other than use this to call for gun control, of course. Then, eventually, they’ll blame the attack on the rampant homophobia in *American* society, because, as we all know, homophobic southern baptists are very prone to pledging allegiance to ISIS and yelling “Allu Ackbar” while committing a massacre.
Well, expect this to be the argument for why police are enough to protect us, despite the fact that they were not until after a mass shooting gave them reason to be extra suspicious.
Its always good to wait. I read something from the LATimes Sunday morning that was pretty short on details. Basically all it said was some person from out of state was searched by the cops for being suspicious, they found guns, and he said he was going to the pride parade.
Everyone freaked out.
Who would expect that bi-sexuals like to shoot guns?
Greeson said that Howell harbored no ill will toward gays or lesbians and added that Howell was bisexual.
I hope the story holds up Wodun. The guy appears to have a history of pointing guns at people. He also thinks 9/11 was an inside job and Hillary is Hitler (which means bob will likely read up on him). But if the Santa Monica Police Chief retracts their statement, then it is retracted.
Ya, who knows? I doubt many updates will filter out unless he intended to do violence.
When I read the article earlier, it mentioned tannerite after discussion of material to make IEDs. So I looked up tannerite to see what it was. Now the article describes it properly, while still suggesting it can be made into other types of explosives.
Still, I think there’s a good chance this story will be used by the gun control side.
I’ve already seen and addressed a screed that came within a hairsbreadth of blaming homophobia and Christians, on a forum where serious politics and religion are off limits.
Someone on the local radio was claiming that the killer had visited the nightclub previously and suggested that he could have been a closet gay.
I haven’t found anything on the net supporting the previous visits claim, anyone else seen that claim made?
Do you think the guy in the LA was closeted gay also? Are they both lone wolves during Ramadan? Two or three dots that cannot be connected, while we try to connect others dots that are just speculation?
I’m guessing from the absence of sensible replies that the closet gay speculation I heard doesn’t have any foundation.
No.
suggested that he could have been a closet gay.
People always say that anyone who isn’t enthusiastic enough about gay people is actually secretly gay.
It’s called “reconnaissance”.
Someone on the local radio was claiming that the killer had visited the nightclub previously and suggested that he could have been a closet gay.
Given how successful he was, it indicates to me that he was both smart and planned. I wouldn’t be surprised to find that he had scoped out a number of such places and settled on one with tactical advantages (eg, poor exits,a defensible spot which overlooks most of the nightclub, or a nearby highway for a getaway). And then he visited the nightclub one or more times to get familiar with it.
I think the labeling of him as a closet gay is just an attempt to cope. Not all closet gays go around shooting up nightclubs. There’s more going on than that.
I think that’s now being confirmed. One of his friends from training said the guy was gay and tried to get all romantic with him.
That opens up a host of new motivations and psychological issues about being a married gay Muslim jihadist whose brain snapped.
Dying in jihad was his only path to Islamic heaven.
Gun control as a solution to terrorism. Really. How do you even take someone serious who suggests that?
I don’t, but the left does.
Well if gun control means using both hands… 😉
You know how some places give you a jacket and tie to dine there? We may get to the point where you get a loaner handgun if you don’t bring your own. The only way a single person can kill 50 is if they have no way to fight back.
It’s rather surprising to me that at least the bartenders were not armed. I lived in Florida for a couple of years, a very long time ago, and it was just commonplace for there to be a shotgun behind every counter and every bar. And the crime rate was pretty low.
I’d be willing to bet that this place had signs on the entrances inviting in mass shooters – the ones with the silhouette of a pistol in a red circle, with a red slash across it.
Patrons can’t carry according to Florida law:
“Further, even with a CWFL these weapons may not be carried concealed in…Any portion of an establishment licensed to dispense alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises, which portion of the establishment is primarily devoted to such purpose.”
https://www.uslawshield.com/florida-gun-law/
Simple solution for the gun-free zone. If you post a place that way, you got to have guards and metal detectors at the entrances.
Just like the county courthouse . . .
For some places that might work.
for other places – like college campuses – it’s a little more difficult.
Plus clubs have several entrances. Shooters aren’t supposed to use them, but oftentimes they do. /s
This morning on the radio there was a comment from a witness including a mention of the shooter reloading. Considering the number of rounds fired vs. the size of the magazine he had to reload many times.
…
Some people are going to HATE me for saying this given the context …
And apparently there were no real men present to tackle the shooter when he was reloading.
My company had active shooter training last year. Instead of just waiting for the police to save us, we were taught to “run, hide, or fight”. If the opportunity presents itself to run to safety, by all means do so. I believe quite a few people were able to flee that nightclub. If you can’t run, try hiding. Some people hid in a restroom and, from what I’ve read, many were killed. If you can’t run and you can’t hide, then fight. Improvise makeshift weapons if you can or go empty-handed, but fight back. With numbers, you can overwhelm the attacker. Some will get shot and perhaps die, but that’s better than just letting him continue shooting until his finger gets tired, he runs out of ammo, or the police finally arrive. From the sounds of it, no one in that club attempted to fight back. This isn’t blaming the victims in any way, it’s just a sad commentary on what seems to have taken place. We need to follow the example of Flight 93 and fight back even at the risk of our own lives.
“He’s re-loadin!” was allegedly shouted out by a Texas woman during an “active shooter” incident that didn’t go well for the shooter.
I guess in Texas enough people are sufficiently familiar with firearms that they actually know when to try rushing the shooter.
When we start going Flight 93 on these guys every time they try and attack civilians, we will show that our civilians are tough enough to take out jihadists. This will make it less likely that loser jihadis will think they have what it takes, mentally or physically, to attack Americans.
It would be even better if the jihadis were defeated in an embarrassing way or in an especially vicious manner while the international audience watches. They believe they are supreme, we should show they are not.
You don’t need to be a Spencer Stone to fight back.
Given that the attack took place in a bar, a couple dozen drinks in the attackers face sounds like a fair start to a counterattack, and embarrassing to the attacker.
It would be nice if the talking heads placed this in the proper context of this being an attack on our country and not just on gays.
Ok, I think this whole story has been sufficiently and intentionally distorted that I have no confidence in the reporting (not surprising considering recent Gallup polling on confidence in the media).
The guy claimed he was supporting ISIS. Today there are stories from his ex-wife, coworkers, and gay associates that he was gay. Father, who reportedly made anti-gay comments, claims he wasn’t gay, and makes the only rational statement, “If he was gay, why would he do this?”
Supposedly he was under FBI Investigation, but he was also hired to provide security, received police training, and worked for a company that provided services to homeland security. He even worked a metal detector at a courthouse and worked as a prison guard. Hillary stated that anyone under FBI Investigation shouldn’t be allowed to possess a gun. Her comment has so full of problems, it will take weeks to unpack.
The FBI and President claim he was home grown terrorist, radicalized on the Internet. Yet Saudi Arabia confirmed at least two trips to their country in 2011 and 2012. Associates started to avoid him because he became more violent and creepy. His father is Afghan and some reports suggest the father was associated with the Taliban. The guy was definitely born in the USA. Trump says we should ban immigration from countries with known problems. Does he mean Florida? Perhaps Rand is fine since he moved from Florida to California, which both or fairly messed up. I think Illinois, Maryland, and New York can be included in that free Trade pack.
And of course, this shooting is no where near as deadly as Wounded Knee, so it is not a historical record, unless you find a distinction between the government shooting versus… Well I don’t even know how to describe this latest shooter. He was employed as a government contractor, so I’m lost on a distinction.
My only certainty is that writing any laws based on this incident is a bad idea.
